The Dundee DON Deal And Makinde’s Dance On The Tombs Of The Dead.
These are very desperate times for Governor Makinde of Oyo state and as the saying goes, desperate moments require desperate measures.
In a desperate attempt to avoid a defeat in the August 16 By-election for the Ibadan North Federal Constituency, Governor Makinde has gone all out to unleash every ammunition in his arsenal.

At this point, the Governor of Oyo state no longer care about morals, tradition and custom.
In Yoruba Land, there are certain actions which is forbidden when dealing with a deceased person but Seyi Makinde will have none of that for now.
His ego is at stake.
Unknown to many, the Governor is under very serious pressure from the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC in Oyo state.
When I say so, I mean it.
Governor Makinde knows how he got a second term in office after his Party had been beaten blue and black by the APC during the 2023 Presidential and National Assembly election.
Even though, both the Governor and the heavily compromised Press would want you to believe that Makinde and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Oyo state made Oyo APC victory possible during the Presidential and National Assembly election of 2023, inside of him, Governor Makinde knows that such a narrative is far from the truth.
He knows that his second term was awarded to him through an unholy alliance he and others had with the APC and its Presidential candidate at the time.
We were all here when Governor Makinde was scared stiff of Oyo APC’s participation in the last Local Government election in the state.
Some of us thought that the Local Government election would have been used to actually test the might of the PDP against the APC once and for all but Governor Makinde would not take such risks despite the facts that both himself and his Party held the advantages.
Not only that, Governor Makinde and the PDP had lost the state House of Assembly rerun election to the APC in Saki in 2024.
I am not surprised at all that Governor Makinde is desperate about the By-election in Ibadan North Federal Constituency.
He has been living in an illusion created through lies, half-truths and propaganda.
He knows that he has kept increasing the numbers of those who are displeased with his Government as a result of certain anti-people policies.
How many Lands has he taken from the original owners? How many shops?
He knows that more and more people are beginning to see that, rather than Tinubu, his reckless spendings on white elephant projects, reckless borrowings and continued choking of the 33 Local Governments through deprivation of their monthly Allocations are responsible for the hardships in Oyo state.
How will he not know that whatever the Government of the late Ajimobi was punished for, he has done worse.
Is it about harbouring of thugs? The indulgence of a none state actor who goes about, seizing Lands, market spaces and acting like an auxiliary Governor? Is it about the 360 degree turn to embrace the late Ajimobi proposed amendment to the Olubadan Chieftaincy Declaration Laws?
Certainly, the Governor’s back is against the wall and he knows.
I am however surprised that in all this, he has decided to involve the souls of the dead.
A couple of days ago, the PDP in Oyo state raised questions about the late Olubadan.
They accused Oyo APC of going on with a Campaign program on the day the late Monarch was buried and therefore concluded that Oyo APC dishonored the late Monarch.
In fact, in their desperation, they said the spirit of the deceased Monarch would haunt the APC!
Unfortunately for them, some of us exposed their hypocrisy by reminding them that they, the PDP and Governor Makinde not only dishonored the late Monarch while he was alive, but they also traumatized him.
We reminded them about how the Governor was playing God, refusing to approve the nomination of the late Monarch for months and how he dishonored him during his Coronation ceremony.
When they saw that the plan has backfired, they jumped on another deceased person and this time around, no other person than the man whose seat became vacant in Ibadan North, Olayide Akinremi aka ( Jagaban).
The man died over a year ago now.
Governor Makinde had seized the Trans amusement park and converted same to a GRA against public outcries about two years ago.
When I saw a flyer which states that Governor Makinde intends to honor Jagaban by naming the former Trans amusement park, now, a GRA in honor of Akinremi Jagaban, I asked myself, does this man fear God at all?
The late Akinremi died in his early 50s. Why would anyone who have the fear of God want to play dirty politics with such a sad development?
I know Governor Makinde’s attack dogs would roar and bark and that is why I will be ahead of them to tell the public why Governor Makinde’s action is condemnable.
Like I said, Akinremi aka Jagaban died over a year ago now.
The Trans amusement park have also been converted to a GRA about two years ago.
Why would Governor Makinde wait till now to ‘ honor ‘ him when the By-election to fill the vacuum created by his demise is about 72 hours away?
Immediately the INEC announced August 16 as the date for the By-election, Governor Makinde announced the approval of the road within the Bodija Market.
He also gifted a Bus to the Bodija Market Traders.
You may be worried about such display of desperation but people will say it is politics.
However, only a nit-wit will consider what the Governor is doing with the late Akinremi as politics.
It is wickedness pure and simple and only a dogmatic mind will see it as otherwise.
Sadly, Governor Makinde exposed himself and his wicked intentions during the program.
An Ibadan socialite and politician, who was heard in a viral voice note, telling people to come over to the Governor’s side for dollars in thousands was invited to do a hatchet job and while doing the job, he exposed the Governor’s hypocrisy.
The program was turned to a jamboree where the scrotum gatherer seized the opportunity to endorse the PDP Candidate for the Ibadan North Federal Constituency By-election!
Jagaban died at an age just above fifty years for God sake!
If Governor Makinde is sincere about honoring him, shouldn’t the atmosphere be somber?
Haba!
That is a program Governor Makinde ought to conduct, devoid of politics and the kind of dirty talks which the Ibadan socialite was spewing if, genuinely, the intention was to honor Akinremi.
Why not honor him without politics and allow the public to decide on who did not honor him? Why not do it before now or after the By-election?
That would have been honorable and no one would have been agitated.
I must also say that I noticed that the PDP Candidate has been anonymous.
A Debate program was organized by a popular Radio station in Ibadan a couple of days ago.
Only the APC and the SDP Candidates attended.
The PDP DON was conspicuously absent.
I haven’t also seen him talk about his plans for the people of Ibadan North Federal Constituency on Radio unlike the APC Candidate.
You must also give kudos to the young Woman from the SDP.
What is happening to the DON?
I thought they said he is younger and would therefore be more capable?
I thought they said he once represented the Local Government in the House of Assembly and is therefore more competent?
I hope the Dundee is not a feeding bottle Candidate!
