The Chief Financial Officer of FGN Power Company Limited and former member of the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Kola Olabiyi has expressed his understanding and mastery of protest as part of democracy, but planned mass protest may be hijacked by the hoodlums and miscreants, considering the current situation in the country.
Hon. Kola Olabiyi made this appeal in a statement which he personally signed and made available to acrossnigerianews.com
Okaka-born Politician harped in connection with planned August 1st, 2024 mass protest tagged #TimeofRage and #EndBadGovernance in Nigeria that is allegedly believed to be planned and sponsored by invisible elements, suspected to be anti Nigeria’s progress.
Hon. Olabiyi disclosed that, he has firm understanding that protest is not alien to democracy and 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended, but planned mass protest may be hijacked by evil people, hoodlums and miscreants who may take its advantage to cause violence and subsequently set the country ablaze.
The Chief Financial Officer of FGN Power Company Limited, maintained that the planned protest would no doubt hurt the economy and eventually bring untold hardship on the masses.
He however appealed to Nigerians to shelve the protest and support the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whom he described as a notable and listening leader who has goodies in stock for the masses.
Hon. Olabiyi asked Nigerians not to mind agents of destabilization but considering Tinubu’s sound economic policies and his unwavering commitment and stance on students’ loan programme, local government’s autonomy, security re-engineering, and constant palliatives’ distribution among others.
He asked Nigerians to be patient with the government ably led by PBAT as his programmes and policies are aimed at bringing smiles to the faces of all, regardless of political differences, tribes, religions and other dichotomies.
He however hinted that Nigeria belongs to all of us, as it lies on everybody to ensure that he/she contributes quotas to her progress and development.
