Saturday, 28th of June, 2025, Governor Seyi Makinde will complete another round of shameless illegality when he coronates Samuel Adebayo Adegbola as the Eleruwa of Eruwa for a record and historic second time.

Almost a weeklong activities have been lined up to celebrate the illegal act, beginning from Wednesday, 25th of June to Sunday ,29th of June, 2025.
The Coronation ceremony will hold at the Eleruwa Stadium on Saturday, 28th June, 2025.
Interestingly, Governor Makinde, who has refused to release funds belonging to the Local Government for meaningful developments, nor approve state funds for the same purpose, have suddenly became generous, approving the release of funds to celebrate illegalities.
Allegedly, the sum of 200 million Naira was approved for the renovations of the Eleruwa Palace and according to information at my disposal, the one who got the award of the New garage to Oke-ola and Alayande junction road to Isaba junction road through proxy is also, allegedly, the contractor.
I think out of shame of having to at least commission something, Governor Makinde also released funds for the reconstruction of the Ipin Bridge and some meters of road, not kilometers, linking the Bridge.
I also have information that a Peoples Democratic Party Chieftain from Eruwa who got part of the contract for the rehabilitation of the Eruwa/Ido road is also, allegedly the beneficiary of the contract.
I must say here that the Ido/Eruwa road rehabilitation is stuck at the point it was as at the time Governor Makinde said he was going to release another 2 billion Naira for the completion of the 12 kilometers awarded out of 48.
It is also interesting that the Eleruwa Stadium is chosen as venue for the shameful event.
Well, the general and shabby outlook of the place actually fits the occasion.
The Stadium have been taken over by the Oyo state Government for years.
It is a shadow of what it used to be.
Governor Makinde was also quoted to have supported the planning committee ‘ tremendously ‘ and I’m I’m sure that involves the release of further funds from the purse of the Ibarapa East Local Government council.
Do not forget that the same Governor Makinde had illegally approved the sum of 30.5 million Naira and four Local Government vehicles as settlement for Samuel Adebayo Adegbola after he was removed by the Supreme court in 2019.
You will also recall that I reported that, apart from the ‘ tremendous ‘ support received by the planning committee for the illegal Coronation from Makinde, the Finance Committee have also been going around cap or is it bowl in hand, trying to raise another sum of 50 million Naira to ‘ feed guests ‘.
I am not surprised at that. Same characters, some years ago, tasked people in Eruwa, deceiving them that they wanted to file a case in Court to retrieve Lagaye, a village which both Lanlate and Eruwa are laying claim to.
Sadly, no one heard anything about the said Court case till today despite the funds raised for the purpose.
It is the same characters who also clouded with Makinde to displace thousands of farmers at the Eruwa Farm Settlement through a ‘ hand over ‘ of the Farm Settlement to some strangers.
They have also been colluding to sell off the Cashew Plantation at New Eruwa.
One would wonder, why Governor Makinde, who was said not to have released funds for the rehabilitation of the New garage to Oke-ola junction road, the Alayande junction to Isaba junction road and in fact, who has refused to complete a 48 kilometer road between Ido and Eruwa always found his pen running to approve funds whenever Adegbola’s matter is involved?
The statements that Makinde did not release funds for the rehabilitation of major roads within Eruwa was made by no other person than the Speaker of the Oyo state House of Assembly and I am tempted to believe that statement somehow now.
Why shouldn’t I? After all, after the statement was made, the Governor didn’t deny it and both of them have remained as jolly as ever.
I had wanted to wait for the Governor to attend the Coronation program and make his characteristics empty boasts before deciding if whatever he said would be worthy of a reply but when I heard on Radio this morning that he would be personally present on the day, I felt like, let me put the following before him.
I will like the Governor to tell those he is coming to meet at the Coronation venue and at Orita, where I am sure he will retire to have merriments after the show, how pleased he is with the level of the job done on the Ido/Eruwa road in about two years plus. I’m sure he won’t forget to make another empty promise of a fresh deadline.
He should also tell us what benefits the ‘ hand over ‘ of the Eruwa Farm Settlement have brought to the people of Eruwa and if indeed he is trying to also sell the Eruwa Cashew Plantation and why.
He should tell us why he has refused to release funds for the rehabilitation of the major roads within Eruwa since about five years ago that the contracts were awarded and if the Speaker was lying, he should let us know.
I will also want him to tell us the identities of the contractors who are handling the renovations of the Eruwa Palace and the Ipin Bridge.
His Excellency, I am sure, should visit some of the roads he said he has approved for the Local Government to Grade.
Didn’t he say that 30 kilometers of road were approved for each Local Government to Grade recently?
I’ve been thinking about how the Governor would get to the Eleruwa Palace.
May his Excellency’s driver drive with caution o.
The only road leading to the Eruwa Palace from the New garage through Odo Baba Ode is not that fit for smooth driving o.
Well I’m sure the Local Government Chairman must have worked himself tired to ensure that His Excellency doesn’t suffer any embarrassment.
I am glad that the Chairman will need explanation on the Ido/Eruwa part of His Excellency’s trip.
Yes sir, Your Excellency, kindly visit the sites of the rehabilitation of the roads mentioned above and please sir, you may need to address the people and make another promise of a deadline, if only for upticks.
Finally sir, kindly visit the Local Government Secretariat.
The place is El dorado. At least seeing is believing. Some of us who had the privilege to have held offices there could no longer believe our eyes at what the place have become.
Your Excellency may not wish to pass through the Babaleje/Gbolagunte junction road because, I think Remi Oseni did something there recently.
I will like to end this piece by saying that Samuel Adebayo Adegbola, for me, is not an issue any more.
His fate is sealed from the beginning and it is just a question of time.
If he likes, he can invite Donald Trump to give him a Staff of office and ask the British Prime Minister to Coronate him for a third time, his fate is sealed.
I will enjoy watching the celebration of shamelessness.
SOLA ABEGUNDE.
