The Human Resources Manager Quantum Plastic, Dr. Joy Ugbaja has disclosed that their company embarked on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to impact positively on people’s life.
She stated this during the 2024 CSR empowerment programme to the less privileged/vulnerable people in the society in collaboration with Ishk Tolaram foundation held at the company premises, Soka, Ibadan.
Dr. Joy said the company was trying to reach out to the less privileged class in the society and put smile on the faces of the people.
She said “we don’t know any of the beneficiaries, we just put out our fliers and messages on social media and people started coming across the country to get their prosthetic limbs from our company free of charge”.
She continued “there are some people when they have an accident, after the accident, they may get amputated, which may result in untimely death, some may even poison themselves and many other things, we are doing this programme to let people know that there is ability in disabity”.
Dr. Joy added further that the beneficiaries came from each state of the country to get the prosthetic limbs, adding that the company does the measurement that produce their legs and hands prosthetic limbs free of charge as part of the company 2024 CSR.
She then appealed to the Oyo State Government to fix the road leading to the company Quantum Plastic where they produce quality film nylon, shrink nylon, Rope, shopping bags and Toothbrush. As the road is not motorable at all and this road leads to Model College in Lagelu/ Idi-Ayunre Local government MacMillan Bus-Stop, Soka area of the State for easy access for the people of the State.
She appreciated the entire management staff of the company for always having it in mind to help the less privileged people in the society.
Responding, one of the beneficiaries of the programme, Mrs Love Mba from Abia State hailed the company for contributing positively to their lives, saying that, she couldn’t believe she can work again.
Another beneficiary, Mr. Adelaja Adewole from Oyo State commended the company vision to turn disability to ability, hinting that his hands was amputated long time ago that with the prosthetic limbs he can do something again.
