The Executive Chairman, Iseyin Local Government Area of Oyo State, Hon. Rasaq Bisi Fadiran has appealed to people of the council area to ensure they prevent the outbreak of the deadly cholera disease.
Hon. Fadiran in a statement which he personally signed and made available to acrossnigerianews.com explained that Cholera is an extremely virulent disease transmitted through the ingestion of contaminated food or water.
On cause of the deadly disease, the council boss expatiated that the disease can cause severe acute watery diarrhoea and the severe forms of it can kill within hours if left untreated.
He said, “the Key symptoms for people to look out for are: Diarrhoea and dehydration, nausea and vomiting.
Iseyin-born politician urged his people to handle all pieces of information about the disease with all forms of seriousness just like they did during COVID-19.
Hon. Fadiran also assured Iseyin indigenes and general residents that the government of Oyo State as usual has activated an integrated disease Surveillance System that includes feedback at the local level and information sharing at the state level.
He however encouraged the good people of Iseyin LG to follow and take the the preventive measures which are drinking safe and clean water;washing of hands often with soap and safe water; cook food well.
He added that, they should keep their foods covered, eat them hot and close leftovers appropriately.
Hon. Fadiran warned people not to eat peeled fruits from unhygienic sources, clean and disinfect toilets and surfaces with soap and treated water.
He enjoined people to have strict compliance with the precautions so as to have safe and healthy environment.
