Preparations are in full swing for the week-long activities leading to the grand finale of the 2025 Okeho Day Celebration. The festivities will commence on Sunday, November 23, 2025, and conclude with the grand finale on Saturday, November 29, 2025. With “Rooted in Heritage, United for Education: A Grand Reunion for Okeho’s Future” as the theme for this year’s celebration.

In a royal address, the Onjo of Okeho, Oba Dr. Rafiu Osuolale Mustapha, Adeiitan II, declared: “We are ready to welcome our sons and daughters from all over the world as we mark another historic celebration in our hometown with pomp and pageantry. It is always a joyous occasion—an opportunity to celebrate our achievers, inspire our youth, and showcase the beauty of our community to the world.”

In his words, the Asiwaju of Okeho, Prof Segun Gbadegesin called on the sons and daughters of Okeho, both home and abroad to contribute immensely towards the success of the celebration and the development of their source.

Echoing this sentiment, the Egbe Omo Ibile Okeho Chairman, Dr Kasali Alarape Salawu, described this year’s Okeho Day as yet another opportunity to place Okeho on the global stage firmly. He added that this year’s celebration carries the theme:

Providing further details, Chairman of the Central Planning Committee, Captain Ade Olopoenia, outlined the rich lineup of activities designed to make the 2025 Okeho Day memorable and impactful.

The celebration will kick off on Sunday, November 23, with a church service, followed by Heritage Rally Day in the evening. On Monday, November 24, a community sanitation exercise will begin at the Town Hall, underscoring the community’s commitment to environmental cleanliness.

On Tuesday, November 25, junior secondary school students will participate in a debate and essay competition on the theme “The Okeho of My Dreams.” Later in the day, a beauty competition will be held in the afternoon and evening. The next day, Wednesday, November 26, will feature a morning visit to Okeho Ahoro, followed by a stage play titled “The Okeho Exodus” by Olutayo Irantiola at the Town Hall later.

The Educational Summit will take place on Thursday, November 27. It will bring together key stakeholders to address issues affecting educational development in the community. The day will also feature the Okeholympics at the FUNATO Temporary Site, with a variety of indoor and outdoor games.

On Friday, November 28, activities will include a medical outreach at the Palace of the Onjo of Okeho, a Jumaat service in the afternoon, and an award ceremony in the evening. The celebration will culminate on Saturday, November 29, with the grand finale—featuring fundraising for FUNATO at L.A. Primary School, Olele, Okeho.

The Iyalode of Okeho land, Chief Mrs Haulat Adewumi Lawal, made it known that people should come to enjoy the Okeho hospitality during the upcoming Okeho day.

The event is expected to attract traditional rulers, political leaders, corporate executives, and people from all walks of life who will converge to experience Okeho’s unique culture and lifestyle.

Earlier this year, Okeho received presidential assent for the establishment of the Federal University of Agriculture and Technology. Okeho, its governing board, and principal officer have been inaugurated, further cementing its growing importance on the national stage.
