The Federal University of Agriculture and Technology Òkehò (FUNATO) has received a significant boost to its campus illumination efforts following a generous donation from the Minister of Power, Chief Bayo Adelabu.
The Minister, in a bid to enhance the safety and functionality of the institution’s environment, has donated twenty (20) solar-powered lights to the nascent university.
The official handover of the solar units took place on Wednesday, October 15, at FUNATO’s temporary site. This location, situated behind the Awoyemi Commercial High School along the Isemi-ile road.
The donation is a clear demonstration of Chief Adelabu’s commitment to supporting the academic environment and leveraging sustainable energy solutions for community development.
The solar-powered lights are expected to significantly improve visibility and security across the temporary campus, particularly during the evening and nighttime hours.
This initiative aligns with the Federal Government’s broader mandate to promote the adoption of renewable energy technologies across the country.
The Vice-Chancellor and management of FUNATO expressed profound gratitude for the Minister’s timely and impactful donation, noting that the lights will immediately address critical infrastructure needs as the university continues to establish itself.
The provision of reliable lighting is considered a crucial step toward creating a conducive atmosphere for both students and staff. Chief Adelabu’s action serves as an excellent example of public officials partnering with educational institutions to foster growth and development.
The Chief Financial Officer, CFO of FGN Power Company Limited and anchor of the solar lights’ distribution expressed gratitude to the Minister of Power and however maintained that, it was a gesture extended to towns and local governments in the state.
