The Leader of Shina Peller Group(SPG) in Oyo North Senatorial District, Alhaji Waheed Shittu Owonikoko has described the defection of former member of the House of Representatives for Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Iwajowa/Kajola Federal Constituency, Oyo Sate, Hon. Shina Peller to People’s Democratic Party(PDP) as the one which has added strength to the party in Oke-Ogun Geopolitical zone.
Peller who was a member of the green chamber of the National Assembly between 2019-2023 had recently defected to PDP amidst ecstasy and gradeur.
Alhaji Owonikoko in an interaction with acrossnigerianews.com revealed that the defection of Iseyin-born politician, technocrat and socialite to the conservative party had unequivocally added to its strength in Oke-Ogun.
The SPG Senatorial Leader, described Peller’s movement as well deserved and a square peg in a square hole, which would be beneficial to Shina himself, PDP, Oke-Ogun, Oyo State and Nigeria as a whole.
He described Peller as a grassroot mobiliser, and man of the masses, who has charisma, capacity, wisdom and knowledge to fight for the progress of the zone, which he prioritises as a main reason which triggered his interest in politics.
Alhaji Owonikoko said, his brand name(Peller) which he has been protecting for years stands so important to him, friends and admirers to fulfill his mission that is gearing towards the betterment of Oke-Ogun.
On current state of Oke-Ogun Geopolitical zone, Alhaji Owonikoko who doubles as the CEO/Chairman Agbalaowo Travels & Tours lamented that it was very disheartening and painful that the zone is still where it is till today.
He reiterated on complete backwardness and total marginalization of the zone, despite its numerical strength in population, land mass and numbers of local governments.
He said he was happy that he could see someone like Peller who stands firmly and uncompromisingly for the development of the zone, in order to fight against marginalization and other factors threatening its development.
He charged others to see development of Oke-Ogun as a collective assignment which should be prioritised by all regardless of politics religions and other dichotomies.
