The Oyo State Progressive Ex-Parliamentarians’ Forum has felicitated His Imperial Majesty, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, on the occasion of his 81st birthday and formal coronation as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.

In a goodwill message jointly signed by the Forum’s Chairman, Hon. Bolomope, the sec. Hon Alli and PRO, Hon. John Olaleru, and made available to acrossnigerianews.com, the former lawmakers described the ascension of the former Oyo State Governor to the revered Olubadan stool as both historic and divinely ordained.
They lauded Oba Ladoja for his enduring commitment to the progress of Oyo State and Nigeria at large, noting that his life has been marked by selfless service, statesmanship, and uncommon leadership. The group further stated that his coronation at the remarkable age of 81 serves as an inspiration to both the old and young that dedication and patience eventually yield fulfillment.
“Oba Ladoja is not just a monarch; he is a symbol of resilience, courage, and visionary leadership. His contributions to the political and socio-economic development of Ibadan, Oyo State, and Nigeria are well documented and continue to speak volumes about his character and legacy,” the statement read in part.
The Progressive Ex-Parliamentarians emphasized that Ibadanland, renowned for its rich culture, political vibrancy, and historical significance, is blessed to have Oba Ladoja as its traditional ruler. They expressed confidence that his reign would usher in unprecedented unity, peace, and prosperity for Ibadan indigenes at home and in the diaspora.
They also prayed for divine wisdom, long life, and strength for the monarch as he assumes the sacred responsibility of leading Ibadanland, urging all sons and daughters of the ancient city to rally around the Olubadan in ensuring harmony and collective growth.
“On behalf of our members across the state, we heartily congratulate His Imperial Majesty on his coronation and birthday celebration. We look forward to a reign that will further cement Ibadan’s place as a centre of culture, knowledge, and progress,” the Forum concluded.
Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, a distinguished politician and businessman, served as the Governor of Oyo State between 2003 and 2007 before returning fully to private life. His coronation as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland marks a new chapter in the history of the ancient city.
