Oyo Seriki Fulani, Yakubu Bello Honoured For Promoting Peace Amidst Farmer-Herder Challenges
Alhaji Yakubu Bello, the Seriki Fulani of Oyo State, also known as ‘Ardo Fulani of Oyo State,’ has been presented with a prestigious Award of Excellence by the Agro Rangers’ Unit of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Oyo State Chapter.

The award was conferred recently at the Agriculture Stakeholders’ Seminar 2025 in Ibadan, recognizing Bello’s significant contributions to fostering peaceful coexistence in the state.
The seminar, themed “Combating the Problem of Food Security and Farmer-Herder Conflicts: The Active Roles of the Agro Rangers’ Squad in Oyo State,” brought together key stakeholders to address critical issues facing the agricultural sector.
The event featured a welcome address by the Head of the Agro Rangers’ Unit, DCC Alonge Isaac, and a keynote address by the State Commandant, Commandant Augustine Padone.
Attendees benefited from insightful presentations by various experts whose views on different topics are expressed as follows:

Dr. Atunwa Sunday Adewale delivered a compelling presentation on “Checkmating the Menace of Food Insecurity and Cattle Rustling: The Active Roles of the Agro Rangers’ Squad,” offering strategies to combat these prevalent issues.
DCC Oluseyi Akingbade shed light on “Agro Rangers as a Unit in NSCDC: The Core Mandate,” detailing the unit’s crucial responsibilities in safeguarding agricultural investments and promoting rural security.
Barrister Titilola Akinwande provided valuable legal perspectives in her presentation on “Criminal Liability in Agricultural Settings: Understanding Legal Implications of Actions on Farm and Grazing Land,” emphasizing the importance of legal awareness for farmers and herders.
Awardee Pledged continued Commitment to Peace
In his acceptance speech, Alhaji Yakubu Bello expressed profound gratitude to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps for the distinguished honour. He reiterated his commitment to maintaining peace and stability between Fulani communities and farmers across the state.
“I thank the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps for considering me worthy of this notable award,” Bello stated. “I promise to ensure that I will maintain the status quo on peaceful coexistence between Fulani and the farmers.”
The award to Seriki Fulani Yakubu Bello underscores the ongoing efforts by security agencies and community leaders in Oyo State to mitigate conflicts and ensure food security through collaborative engagement.
