Following reluctance and failure of Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company(IBEDC) to restore electricity in Kajola Local Government, Area of Oyo State, the residents have lamented complete blackout and total neglect of the council area.
Acrossnigerianews.com in its findings learnt that the IBEDC had on Sunday, 7th July, 2024 restored electricity for just only three(3) hours and the community continues to experience complete blackout till the moment of filing this report.
On cause of the blackout, the online news medium found out that, it was a deliberate attempt of the management of IBEDC, who allegedly claimed that majority of electricity’s consumers in Oke-Ogun Zone are not yielding to regular payment of bills as at when due.
It was also learnt that the challenges of erratic supply of electricity and current blackout do not only affect Kajola Local Government but also other council areas in the zone.
The news medium in its eagerness to get clarity of this allegation, a call was put across to one of the officials of the IBEDC who felt reluctant to talk, substantiating that he was not authorized to speak on the matter.
To ascertain the veracity of this claim, as obtained from investigations, acrossnigerianews.com in its exclusive interaction with Comrade Samson Joel in Iwere-Ile, Iwajowa Local Government said the IBEDC claims were far from the truth, saying that the management should come out boldly and say this to the public.
Joel described electricity’s supply and consumption as business transactions while consumers would never feel reluctant to pay if electricity is available and constant.
A respondent in Kajola Local Government, who spoke under the condition of anonymity maintained that the IBEDC had completely crippled their businesses and means of survival in the council area.
He lamented that, it was quite unfortunate that many people have left the community for areas where they would have access to stable electricity to flourish their businesses.
Mr Jamiu Dhikirullah, a resident in Itesiwaju Local Government lamented that IBEDC had taken their quietness, gentleness and simplicity for granted.
He maintained that the company had acknowledged the area as a local area, where people’s vituperations cannot move them, no matter extent they may go.
He however called on all and sundry in the zone to wake up to reality of life, and at large fight for all rights and privileges when and where necessary.
