The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State Council, has issued a strong warning to the management of Dominion Broadcast, urging them to halt all attempts to encroach or trespass on a parcel of land belonging to the union.
The warning was the core resolution adopted at an emergency congress held on Wednesday, October 9, 2025, at the NUJ Press Centre, Iyaganku Quarters, Ibadan.

The emergency meeting, presided over by the state chairman, Comrade Ademola Babalola, extensively discussed the alleged land encroachment as one of several pressing issues requiring immediate action.
The union expressed disappointment over the alleged plans by Dominion Broadcast. According to the communiqué released after the congress, the land in question has been in the union’s possession for years and is backed by a valid Certificate of Occupancy issued by the Oyo State Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development.
Following exhaustive deliberations, the congress unanimously resolved to call on the owners of Dominion Broadcast to stop any attempt to trespass or encroach on the union’s property.
Crucially, the NUJ appealed to the Oyo State Government, led by Governor Engineer Seyi Makinde, to intervene and call the owner of the broadcast station to order.” The union also called for the alerting of security agencies regarding the development to prevent a potential breach of peace.
Beyond the land dispute, the congress also focused on the forthcoming NUJ elections in the state, advising all candidates contesting for various offices to play the game by the rules.
In a bid to ensure a peaceful and credible electoral process, the union urged the candidates and their supporters to shun all forms of campaign of calumny and any act that could bring the name of the union into disreputein the public sphere.
Finally, the congress called upon all journalists in the state to actively work towards ensuring a free, fair, credible, and acceptable NUJ election in the state.
The communiqué was signed by the NUJ State Secretary, Sola Oladapo, and drafted by a committee chaired by Comrade Abiodun Atilola (State Information Chapel), with Comrade Musliudeen Adebayo (Correspondent Chapel) serving as Secretary, and Com. Mosunmola Akinola (MOAC Chapel) as a member.
