The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State Council, has congratulated a former Chairperson of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Oyo State Chapter, and retired Director of Broadcast in the Oyo State Ministry of Information and orientation, Mrs. Adekitan Adeagbo, on her latest recognition by the state government.
Mrs. Adeagbo was honoured for her excellent performance and outstanding contributions to the civil and public service of Oyo State at the 2025 Public Service Week/2024 Merit Award ceremony held on Friday.
The state government described her as a dedicated professional whose career reflected commitment, integrity, and notable service delivery.
In a statement jointly signed by the Chairman of the Oyo NUJ Council, Comrade Akeem Abas, and the Secretary, Dayo Adu, the union commended Mrs. Adeagbo for distinguishing herself throughout her years in government service, noting that her recognition was well-deserved and a testament to her professionalism and passion for journalism and public communication.
The council praised her leadership qualities, especially during her tenure as NAWOJ Chairperson, where she championed capacity development, ethical practice, and women’s advancement in the media industry.
The statement adds that her exemplary contributions extended beyond the newsroom to policy support and strengthening public information structures across the state.
The NUJ described her achievements as an inspiration to serving and upcoming journalists, urging professionals in the public information space to emulate her work ethics and dedication.
