Appeal has gone to community leaders in Okeho, Kajola Local Government, area of Oyo State on immediate erection of speed breakers on Marshal-Orita Okeho road, in order to prevent reckless driving and incessant occurrence of accidents.
This admonition was made on Saturday, 6th January by sympathizers, who thronged barracks area of Okeho, where a motorcyclist hit an eleven-year- old boy while attempting to cross the road.
The motorcyclist and the boy whose identities were yet to be ascertained, suffered various degrees of injuries, which eventually led their admission at unknown hospital.
Sympathizers condemned the speed at which the motorcyclist accelerated his motorcycle, maintaining that if the speed breakers had been erected, such avoidable accident wouldn’t have occurred.
They also rebuked the parents of the eleven-year-old boy, on what an errand he should be sent at that late hours of the day.
They however called on community leaders and stakeholders, to as a matter of urgency and necessity expedite actions that would necessitate an erection of speed breakers on the road.
They maintained that, the road with no speed breakers, has sent many to early graves and while countless people had sustained various degrees of injuries.
They sighted instance of how careless motorcyclists and motorists are driving on the road, while it has no points to checkmate their excessive speed.
They appealed to them, to take appropriate actions and steps which are germane to enhance erection of the speed breakers on the road.
Reiterating that, an attainment of this, would no doubt prevent excessive speed that keeps sending people to early graves.
