Oyo Lawmaker, Jimoh Ishola ‘Omo-Bed,’ Disburses N5 Million Bursary to Undergraduates in Oorelope State Constituency
In a significant fulfillment of his electoral promises on education, Hon. Jimoh Lukman Ishola, popularly known as ‘Omo-Bed,’ representing the Oorelope State Constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly, disbursed a bursary of N5 million to undergraduate students from his constituency.

The event, held on Monday, 9th June, at the Igboho City Hall in Oorelope Local Government, marked the official launch of the 2025 Bursary Disbursement Programme.
Hon. Ishola, who also chairs the House Committee on Employment, Labour, and Productivity, stated that a total of 475 undergraduate students from Oorelope Local Government, enrolled in various higher institutions across Nigeria, registered for the scheme. Each eligible student is set to receive N10,000.

During the ceremony, Hon. Omo-Bed, on behalf of himself and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the council area, formally presented a cheque of N5 million to the Federation of Igboho Students’ Union. The union has been tasked with the allocation and distribution of the funds to the registered students.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Ishola reiterated his profound commitment to education, identifying it as one of the five core pillars of his legislative agenda. The other critical areas, as highlighted during his electioneering campaign, include youth engagement, sports development, agriculture, and infrastructure/empowerment respectively.

The lawmaker also used the opportunity to provide a rundown of his achievements in the education sector since assuming office. He noted that in his first year, he provided 100 scholarships to brilliant and indigent students, followed by an additional 200 scholarships in his second year, bringing the total to 300. Furthermore, he mentioned providing financial assistance to numerous other higher institution students, distributing free exercise books to primary school pupils, and donating tables and chairs to both students and teachers at his alma mater.
Guests and student leaders present at the bursary disbursement programme commended Hon. Omo-Bed for his commendable gesture, acknowledging its positive impact on the beneficiaries. They also seized the opportunity to advise the students to demonstrate diligence in their academic pursuits, emphasizing the importance of utilizing the bursary effectively.

The bursary scheme is expected to provide much-needed financial relief to the beneficiary students, underscoring Hon. Omo-Bed’s dedication to fostering educational advancement within his constituency.
