The ancient town of Oke-Amu in Itesiwaju Local Government, Area of Oyo State was on Saturday, 22nd June, 2024 received people of note as HRM Oba Kasali Oyeniyi Omotosho, Olugunwa of Oke-Amu celebrated his 33rd Coronation Anniversary on the throne of his forefathers.
The epoch making occasion which took place at LA Primary School, Oke-Amu featured conferment of chieftaincy titles on Alhaji(Chief) Mukaila Adewale Oseni as the Asiwaju of Oke-Amu land, Mrs Ajekemi Sheri Balogun as the Iya Mokun of Oke-Amu land and Captain Nurudeen Adebowale Adebayo as the Jagunmolu of Oke-Amu land respectively.
The Asiwaju and Iya Mokun of Oke-Amu land, who spoke with acrossnigerianews.com pledged to work assiduously in order to justify on purpose through which they were installed.
Wives of the Asiwaju of Oke-Amu land, Mrs Iyabode Enitan Oseni and Olori Iyadunni Anuoluwapo Oseni thanked the monarch and members of the community on conferment of the title on their husband, and however sought people’s support and cooperation for their husband’s attainment of success.
Professor Adeolu Akande, former Chairman, Nigerian Communication Commission(NCC) called for gatherings of people with motive to care for building of hospitals, scholarships for the needy and concern for the widows among others.
This admonition was contained in a speech made, while felicitating the Monarch on 33rd Coronation Anniversary on the throne of his forefathers.
Otu-born politician and technocrat as a Chief Launcher, who attended the programme in company of his friends and political associates donated substantial amount of money to launch the reconstruction of Oke-Amu Town Hall.
Engr. Mrs Esther Oyeronke Oluniyi, Director, Department of Irrigation and Drainage, Federal Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation pledged three different scholarships for the native students.
The first pledge is, the over Best Student in the ongoing 2024 WAEC in honour of HRM Oba Kasali Oyeniyi Omotosho, while the second remains the Best Female Science Student in honour of her Grand Mother, Mama Elizabeth Adedoyin Adeyemo and the last one is the Best Student in Agricultural Science respectively.
Among personalities who thronged the occasion were the Executive Chairman of Itesiwaju Local Government and his predecessor, Hon. Ojo Monsuru Olayemi and Hon. Ojo Bolaji Akintolab who prayed and harped on progress and development of Oke-Amu land and its environs.
Mr Bashiru Adeyemi Adegbola, Chairman Planning Committee for the occasion thanked people’s attendance, and however called for government’s intervention on construction of Oke-Amu/Iseyin and Oke-Amu/Ikere Gorge Dam roads.
The hitch free occasion had in attendance of Oke-Ogun Traditional Rulers, politicians, business tycoons, illustrious sons and daughters of the town among others.
