A Chieftain of People’s Democratic Party(PDP) in Iseyin Local Government, Area of Oyo State, Alhaji Waheed Shittu Owonikoko has appealed to other zones to allow an indigene of Oke-Ogun zone occupies the governorship’s seat come 2027 political dispensation.
Alhaji Owonikoko who was in 1987, the President, Oke-Ogun Youth Movement made this appeal while in an exclusive interaction with acrossnigerianews.com
The PDP Chieftain maintained that the zone with ten(10) local governments and 60 percent landmass, has credible people who can perform excellently well if the privilege is given to the zone.
He added that, Oke-Ogun remains the noble area with numerous, capable and dynamic human resources who can compete favourably with counterparts across other zones.
Alhaji Owoniko lamented, it was unfair and disheartening that the zone since 1976 state’s creation, has not been given due consideration to be at the topmost helms of affairs.
While in a memory lane, Iseyin-born Political Icon revealed that Ogbomoso with current five(5) local governments had earlier produced late Chief Samuel Ladoke Akintola as a premier of defunct Western Region, Colonel Oladayo Popoola and late Governor Adebayo Alao Akala.
He said, Ibadan with eleven(11) local governments had fielded Dr Omololu Olunloyo, late Alhaji Lam Adesina, Senator Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, late Isiaq Abiola Ajimobi and the current Governor Abiodun Oluseyi Makinde respectively.
He reiterated his lamentation to complete marginalization of the zone, which he characterised as injustice and unfairness that preclude any of its indigenes to lead the pacesetter state.
Alhaji Owonikoko appealed to other zones, to as a matter of fairness, justice and equity allow Oke-Ogun zone to lead Oyo State come 2027 political dispensation.
He hinted that all hands are on deck now, among Oke-Ogun indigenes to ensure that the project becomes reality, come 2027 as being dreamt of.
