Oyo 2027: Event Leading to My Gubernatorial Declaration Spontaneous Rather than Pre-Planned _ Rauf Olaniyan
Former Deputy Governor of Oyo State and prominent figure within the All Progressives Congress (APC), Engr. Rauf Aderemi Olaniyan has officially declared his intention to contest the governorship election in 2027.
The announcement, which Olaniyan described as spontaneous rather than pre-planned, was made during the recent Ileya celebration and a local government meeting of the APC.
Olaniyan, who had travelled home; Igboho in Oorelope Local Government for the festive period, found himself met with an overwhelming desire from his constituents to confirm the widespread speculation surrounding his gubernatorial ambitions.
He said, “the enthusiasm of my people to hear from the horse’s mouth regarding my gubernatorial ambition, which until then could be considered a speculation, was overwhelming,”.
He added that the immense support he received made it impossible for him to adhere strictly to pre-arranged procedures.
“Charity begins at home, and the love shown by my people was too much for me to insist on procedure or pattern,”.
Olaniyan reflected on the impromptu declaration. He emphasized that the declaration unfolded as “Allah wishes it.”
Looking ahead, Engr. Olaniyan extended an invitation to all residents of Oyo State to join him on what he describes as “The Journey Towards The Oyo State Of Our Dreams.” He pledged to begin sharing his vision and ideas for the state in the coming days.
Olaniyan’s declaration marks an early start to the political landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections in Oyo State, signaling what is expected to be a dynamic and engaging political season.
