OMAF Hosts Outstanding 2025 Oratory Contest in Iwajowa LG, Presents Cash Prizes to Three Best Schools
The Olayiwola Michael Adeyemi Foundation (OMAF) on Thursday, 20th November 2025, held the 2025 edition of its annual Oratory Contest, a deeply engaging and intellectually stimulating event that brought together some of the brightest young minds in Iwajowa Local Government. The competition, held at the NULGE Hall within the Iwajowa Local Government Secretariat, Iwere-Ile, witnessed an impressive turnout of students, educators, government representatives, and community leaders who gathered to celebrate academic excellence and outstanding public-speaking talent.

This year’s contest featured 19 secondary schools drawn from across the local government, all participating in the preliminary stage. After a rigorous and highly competitive screening process designed to assess clarity of thought, communication skills, confidence, and originality, six schools secured their place in the grand finale. Their performances at the final stage reaffirmed the depth of intellectual potential among students in Iwajowa.

At the conclusion of the keenly contested final round, Adeayo International College, Iganna, emerged as the overall winner, securing the 1st position and a prize of ₦100,000. The Light College, Iwere-Ile, claimed the 2nd position with a prize of ₦75,000, while Iganna High School, Iganna, took the 3rd position and a prize of ₦50,000. The monetary rewards were presented as an incentive to inspire continued academic focus and to motivate students to sharpen their communication and leadership abilities.

The event attracted notable dignitaries whose presence gave the occasion significant institutional weight and credibility. In attendance was the Executive Chairman of Iwajowa Local Government, Hon. Oyewumi Muritala, ably represented by the Chief of Staff, Hon. Kazeem Oladehinde. Other top government officials present included the Head of Local Government Administration (HLGA), the Director of Administration, the Director of Education, the Local Inspector of Education (LIE), the Education Secretary, and an invited English scholar who served as a special guest. Also in attendance was Hon. Raheem Ajibola, former Vice Chairman of Iseyin Local Government. Their collective presence underscored a shared commitment to supporting youth development and strengthening the educational landscape of the region.
To ensure a transparent and merit-driven selection process, the contest was judged by seasoned experts from the Literary and Debate Society, Faculty of Public Health, College of Medicine, University of Ibadan. Their involvement brought a high level of professionalism to the evaluation process and reinforced confidence in the results.
Speaking after the event, representatives of OMAF expressed satisfaction with the success of the 2025 edition and reiterated the Foundation’s dedication to educational advancement. They described the contest as a crucial platform for nurturing articulate, confident, and visionary young leaders who will shape the future of Iwajowa Local Government and Nigeria at large.
The Foundation extended appreciation to all participating schools, dignitaries, judges, volunteers, and partners whose efforts contributed immensely to the programme’s success.
