A prominent Okeho-born politician and grassroots’ mobiliser in Kajola Local Government Area of Oyo State, Hon. Bamidele Akeem Oyekunle, popularly known as “Kunle 55,” has been elected as the Deputy Chairman of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Oyo State chapter.
Hon. Oyekunle’s emergence followed the NNPP state congress held in early December 2025, in Ibadan which produced a new crop of party executives to pilot the affairs of the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The congress also saw the election of other key officers, including Hon. Makinde Sunday as State Chairman; Mr. Olalekan Abiodun as State Secretary; Mr. Timothy as State Publicity Secretary; Hon. Adewale Orosiji as State Financial Secretary; Elder Atanda as State Organising Secretary; Barrister Bolanle Ajoke as Legal Adviser; Comrade Opeyemi Ibrahim as Treasurer; and Mr. Oyewole Taiwo as Youth Leader, among others.
Speaking in an interview with acrossnigerianews.com, Kunle 55, who also serves as the NNPP Coordinator for Oke-Ogun Zone, described his election as a call to greater service and commitment to building a formidable political structure across the state.
He used the opportunity to appeal to aggrieved members of other political parties to set aside personal differences and join forces with the NNPP, stressing that broad-based collaboration remains the surest path to electoral success in Nigeria.
According to him, “It is no longer a gainsaying nor disputable fact that no single political party in Nigeria can win elections in isolation without strategic alliances, cooperation and the collective will of the people.”

He assured prospective members that the NNPP remains an open and inclusive platform, particularly in Kajola Local Government, Oke-Ogun and Oyo State at large, adding that the party is founded on principles of fairness, justice and equal opportunity.
“There will be no disparity, discrimination or preferential treatment in the NNPP. Every member will be treated equally, and loyalty, hard work and commitment will be rewarded,” he stated.
The NNPP Vice Chairman further expressed optimism about the party’s growing acceptance across Oyo State, noting that the new leadership is determined to reposition the party as a credible alternative capable of delivering good governance.
He also extended New Year greetings to the people of Kajola Local Government and Oyo State, wishing them peace, prosperity and renewed hope in the year ahead.
Hon. Oyekunle’s elevation is widely seen as a boost to the NNPP’s grassroots strength in Oke-Ogun, particularly as preparations intensify towards the 2027 general elections.
