The Okeogun Traditional Council of Obas convened in Ogboro, Saki East Local Government Area, Oyo State, on Thursday, August 28, 2025, for a crucial meeting focused on the region’s development and unity.

The session, hosted by the Onisanbo of Ogboro, Oba (Engr.) Kazeem Adio Adegboye, saw traditional rulers from across the Okeogun zone discussed a range of pressing issues, with a significant emphasis on supporting the new Federal University of Agriculture and Technology, Okeho (FUNATO).
The council’s deliberations centered on a collaborative approach to regional development, highlighting education, security, and institutional unity as key pillars. Members explored strategies to promote educational initiatives and ensure the safety and well-being of their communities.
A major point of discussion was the joint ownership of the Federal University of Agriculture and Technology, Okeho (FUNATO), recently established by President Bola Tinubu in May 2025. The institution, which aims to drive agricultural research, technological innovation, and human capital development, was recently inspected by the National Universities Commission (NUC). The traditional rulers unanimously threw their weight behind the university, recognizing its potential to be a catalyst for growth in the Oke-Ogun region.
During the meeting, the traditional rulers also addressed feelings of marginalization among the people of Okeogun. They explored potential solutions to these developmental challenges, including the possibility of advocating for the creation of a new state or seeking increased representation in government.
The discussions underscored the council’s commitment to ensuring the region receives its fair share of resources and opportunities.
As the Okeogun Traditional Council continues its collaborative efforts, stakeholders anticipate meaningful progress and growth for the region, propelled by a unified front and a shared vision for a prosperous future.
