The ancient town of Okaka in Itesiwaju Local Government, Area of Oyo State was on Saturday, 20th January received people of glitz and glam as the monarch, Olokaka of Okakaland, HRM Oba Ayoola Abdul Azeez Olatunji, Ogelende IV celebrated 20th Coronation Anniversary on the throne of his forefathers.
The epoch making event which took place at Baptist Primary School, Okaka had in attendance of Political functionaries, notable politicians across political divides, captains of industries, business moguls, traditional rulers, well- wishers, and sons and daughters of the ancient town respectively.
While speaking to news men, Oba Abdul Azeez Ogelende thanked God almighty for making the event feasible despite challenges that appeared to be obstacles.
On celebration of 20th Coronation Anniversary on the throne,the monarch showed gratitude to God almighty and people of Okakaland for throwing weigh behind him to make rulership of the kingdom noteworthy, applaudable and achievable.
He noted that, 20th years on the throne were full of ups and downs, positives and negatives, but noting that positive aspect of reign had no doubt birth development and progress across the ancient town of Okakaland.
Ex Member of the Federal House of Representatives and host, Hon. Prince Kola Olabiyi declared the programme open and expressed sincere best wishes to the monarch, beloved family, and the entire kingdom.
He prayed that, Okaka would continue to thrive, prosper and embrace enduring peace under the monarch’s wise and notable leadership.
Member representing Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Iwajowa/Kajola Federal Constituency at the green chamber of the National Assembly, Hon. Oyeshina Oyedeji made donations of Five Hundred Thousand Naira(N500,000) for the launching and building of second phase and fencing of Olokaka Palace Installation of Honourary Chiefs.
On his current representation, Okeho-born lawmaker unveiled his agenda with priorities on agriculture, development of farm settlements, education, youths’ development, women empowerment, and road networks among others.
He pledged his commitment to effective representation, sponsorship of notable bills/motions, prompt responses to oversight functions and delivery to the constituents among others.
The Federal Lawmaker asked people to throw weight behind him and also sought for prayers that would make his current legislative assignment achievable.
Member of Oyo State House of Assembly representing Iseyin/Itesiwaju State Constituency, Hon. Dele Adeola revealed Governor Seyi Makinde’s approval of the rehabilitation of Ipapo-AgoAre road.
The Lawmaker said, the road’s rehabilitation was captured in the 2024 appropriation budget and its approval for reconstruction had been assented by the Governor.
Awaye-born Lawmaker, made donations for the programme and however reiterated his commitment to welfare and betterment of the constituents.
The Ex Chairman, Iseyin Local Government, Hon. Yusuff Adejare Alaran showered encomiums on programme’s Planning Committee and however asked them to make judicious use of the donations on purpose they are meant for.
The APC Chieftain, who stood in gap, for the legal luminary, Alhaji Ahmed Raji SAN said he could not make public announcement of what SAN intends to do but asked Oba Abdul Azeez Ogelende to rub minds with him.
He added that, the monarchs in OkeOgun zone had become 5 and 6 with the legal luminary, and added that whatever they intend to do remain with them.
Retired Okaka-born Air Force, Air Commodore Edward Kolawole Adedokun and wife, Mrs Edward Adedokun had been installed as Jagunmolu and Yeye-Jagunmolu of Okakaland.
The duo felt honoured by the chieftaincy titles and however promised to ensure that their contributions to the development of Okakaland and its environs continue to be felt in all ramifications.
The Ex member of the Federal House of Representatives for Ibadan Southwest/Northwest Federal Constituency, Hon. Saheed Akinade Fijabi was installed as the Agba-Akin of the ancient town.
Ibadan-born politician appreciated the monarch and community on chieftaincy title bestowed on him, promising that he would never hesitate to make himself available for the progress of Okakaland.
The monarchs: the Aseyin of Iseyin, Oba Sefiu Oyebola, the Onjo of Okeho, Oba Rafiu Osuolale, The Sabiganna of Iganna, Oba Abdul Azeez Oyemonla, Iba of Kisi, Oba Aweda Lawal, the Elero of Ilero, Oba Wasiu Oyedele Saka, the Alagere of AgoAre, Oba Abodunrin Kofoworola, and others made remarkable comments and unanimously stood on unity, love and oneness for the development of OkeOgun zone.
Rtd. Revd. J.B.Adeosun, Okaka Community Chairman and Chairman Planning Committee expressed gratitude to God almighty over feasibility of the programme and however extended greetings to Monarch on his 20th coronation anniversary on the throne on his forefathers.
He thanked people for coming in numbers to the programme and also showed sincere appreciation for donations towards the building of second phase and fencing of Olokaka palace installation of honourary chiefs.
