The Oke-Ogun Development Consultative Forum (ODCF) has conferred a prestigious honour on the Pioneer Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture and Technology, Òkehò (FUNATO), Professor Olaniyi Jacob Babayemi. The award was presented to Prof. Babayemi and fourteen other distinguished indigenes at a ceremony held at the University of Ibadan on Friday, September 26.

Professor Babayemi shared the news of the recognition via his official Facebook page, expressing his gratitude and commitment to the region. “I was privileged to be among the fourteen distinguished individuals recently honoured by the Okeogun Development Consultative Forum (ODCF) at the University of Ibadan earlier today,” he wrote.
The award specifically targeted indigenes of the Oke-Ogun region who are currently holding top leadership positions within the academic sector. This initiative by the ODCF underscores the forum’s dedication to recognizing and celebrating the achievements of its people, particularly those excelling in fields that promote intellectual and human capital development.
Reflecting on the significance of the honour, Prof. Babayemi emphasized its broader implications beyond personal achievement. “The recognition was given to indigenes who are currently holding top leadership positions in academia. This honour is not just a personal achievement but also a reminder of the shared responsibility we carry to contribute positively to the growth and development of Oke-ogun,” he stated.
As the foundational Vice-Chancellor of FUNATO, a new federal institution poised to drive agricultural and technological advancement in the region, Prof. Babayemi’s leadership is seen as pivotal. The ODCF’s recognition highlights the community’s acknowledgment of his crucial role in establishing and steering the new university.
“I deeply appreciate ODCF for this recognition and remain committed to advancing knowledge and leadership that will inspire others from our community,” Prof. Babayemi concluded. The ceremony served not only to honour the awardees but also to inspire future generations from Oke-Ogun to strive for excellence and contribute meaningfully to the socio-economic progress of the area. The ODCF, through this annual event, reinforces its mission of fostering unity and driving development across the Oke-Ogun geo-political zone.
