Oba Ladoja’s ascension to Olubadan throne marks significant chapter in Ibadan’s rich history—– Power Minister Adelabu

Power Minister Adelabu: Oba Ladoja’s ascension to Olubadan throne brings together deep traditional reverence, extensive political experience, and visionary leadership

Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu has expressed immense joy and profound congratulations on the momentous ascension of His Imperial Majesty, Oba Senator Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland. He said the landmark event marks a new and significant chapter in the annals of Ibadan’s rich history, bringing together a unique blend of deep traditional reverence, extensive political experience, and visionary leadership onto the ancient throne.

In a comprehensive statement released on Friday, the Minister who is also the Agbaakin Parakoyi of Ibadanland, described Oba Ladoja’s coronation as a divine ordainment and the glorious culmination of a destiny long foreseen by the people of Ibadan.
He praised the enduring and distinctive Ibadan chieftaincy system, which once again demonstrated its resilience and integrity by ensuring that a man of impeccable pedigree, unwavering principle, and proven leadership like Oba Ladoja rightfully ascended to the pinnacle of the traditional institution.

“The story of Oba Rashidi Ladoja is one that is intricately woven into the modern fabric of Ibadan and Oyo State. He is not just a monarch; he is a former Governor, a distinguished Senator, a titan of industry, a philanthropist, and above all, a proud and passionate son of the soil whose love for Ibadan is unmatched. His life has been a masterclass in service, resilience, and an unshakable commitment to the welfare of his people. To see him now adorned in the sacred crown of his ancestors is a deeply emotional and fitting tribute to a lifetime of dedication,” Adelabu stated.

The Minister elaborated on the unique qualities that Oba Ladoja brings to the throne. “Having served as the Governor of Oyo State, he possesses an intimate understanding of the mechanics of governance, public policy, and developmental economics. This experience, combined with his astute business acumen and his deep-rooted connection to the traditions of Ibadan, creates a formidable combination that promises a reign of progress, unity, and stability.

“His Imperial Majesty ascends the throne at a critical time when traditional institutions are increasingly called upon to serve as pillars of moral authority, conflict resolution, and socio-economic development. With his vast repository of knowledge, his extensive network, and his renowned wisdom, Oba Ladoja is uniquely positioned to provide the kind of leadership that will not only unite all the factions and families within Ibadan but will also aggressively champion the cause of the city’s development, attracting investments and fostering an environment of growth and opportunity for all.”

The Minister who is a key figure in national development, particularly emphasized the importance of collaboration between the federal government and traditional institutions. He highlighted the critical role that revered monarchs like the Olubadan play in ensuring the success of national initiatives, especially in the power sector.

“As the Minister of Power, I see the ascension of a leader of Kabiyesi’s stature as a tremendous opportunity for synergy. The stability and development of any nation are hinged on critical infrastructure, and power is at the heart of it. I look forward to working closely with the palace of the Olubadan to ensure that national policies and projects in the power sector are effectively communicated and implemented at the grassroots.

His influence and counsel will be invaluable in addressing community-specific challenges, right-of-way issues, and in promoting the adoption of sustainable energy solutions across Ibadanland. Together, we can illuminate every home and empower every business in our beloved city.”
The statement also paid a solemn tribute to the immediate past Olubadan, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, acknowledging his impactful though brief reign and his contributions to the cultural heritage of Ibadan. Chief Adelabu prayed for the continued repose of his soul.

In his concluding remarks, the Minister offered heartfelt prayers and pledges to the new monarch: “On behalf of myself, family and the great people of Ibadanland both at home and in the diaspora, I extend our most sincere and hearty congratulations to His Imperial Majesty, Oba Senator Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.

“We pray that Almighty Allah, in His infinite mercy, grants Kabiyesi a long, peaceful, and prosperous reign on the throne of his ancestors. May He endow him with divine wisdom, excellent health, and unparalleled strength to lead with justice, compassion, and innovation. May his reign bring unprecedented unity, progress, and glory to Ibadanland, cementing its status as Nigeria’s premier city of commerce, culture, and hospitality.

“I pledge my unwavering support, loyalty, and cooperation to your imperial majesty and the esteemed Olubadan-in-Council. I am confident that under your wise and purposeful leadership, Ibadan will scale new heights of achievement”.
