President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has recently appointed Alhaji Fatai Ibikunle, Dr. Ibrahim Adeniyi Olaifa, and Hon. Bukola Braimah to significant roles within the South West Development Commission and the South South Development Commission, signaling a strong push for regional progress and inclusive governance.

The appointments, which are subject to confirmation by the National Assembly, have been met with commendation from Hon. Kola Olabiyi, the Chief Financial Officer of FGN Power Company Limited and a former member of the House of Representatives.
Alhaji Fatai Ibikunle has been named the Executive Director of Commercial and Environmental Development for the South West Development Commission. Hon. Olabiyi lauded this appointment, emphasizing Ibikunle’s extensive experience in public service at both state and federal levels. He stated, “Alhaji Ibikunle’s track record in driving innovative solutions for economic growth and stewardship in his previous appointments aligns perfectly with the Renewed Hope Agenda. His leadership will undoubtedly catalyze progress in Nigeria’s commercial and ecological sectors.” Olabiyi further highlighted Ibikunle’s deep understanding of grassroots challenges in Oyo State as a crucial asset for delivering transformative outcomes across the nation.
Dr. Ibrahim Adeniyi Olaifa has been appointed as a board member of the South West Development Commission. Hon. Olabiyi praised Dr. Olaifa’s decades of dedicated public service and legislative excellence. “Dr. Olaifa’s relentless advocacy for equitable development exemplify the values of integrity and patriotism. His role in the Commission will be pivotal in advancing infrastructure, education, and socio-economic initiatives across the South West,” Olabiyi affirmed, expressing confidence in Olaifa’s strategic vision to bridge regional development gaps in line with the President’s national agenda.
Hon. Bukola Braimah has assumed the position of board member in the South South Development Commission. Olabiyi described this appointment as “well-deserved,” underscoring Braimah’s qualities of excellent service and performance. He characterized Braimah as “a dedicated, committed, and diligent man whose legislative experience, natural instincts, and overall qualities would be explored for the progress and development of the Commission.”
Notably, Hon. Olabiyi recalled his shared tenure with Dr. Olaifa and Hon. Braimah in the 7th National Assembly, highlighting their “legislative togetherness, progressive affection, and friendship” as a strong foundation for their new roles.
