Kajola LG Chair, Akeem Mugaty Celebrates One Year of Progress, Commissioning of Projects
The Kajola Local Government today, Thursday, July 3, 2025, marked a significant milestone with the official celebration of Honourable Akeem Olawale Mustapha Esq.’s one year in office as Executive Chairman. The event, held at the Local Government Secretariat Complex in Mesole, Okeho, also featured the commissioning of numerous developmental projects aimed at uplifting the lives of the people of Kajola.
In an address delivered to a distinguished gathering, Chairman Mustapha expressed his pleasure at the occasion, highlighting it as a pivotal moment in his administration’s history and for the entire Kajola Local Government. He reiterated his administration’s commitment to delivering on the promises made during his electioneering campaign, focusing on developmental and progressive programs for the benefit of the community.
“Since our assumption of office precisely one year ago, we have kept faith with our promises as we have explored all our resources in order to uplift our people socially and economically,” stated Chairman Mustapha. He emphasized his administration’s “dogged determination to bequeath a worthy legacy” by substantially touching lives in various sectors.
Key Achievements Highlighted
The Chairman chronicled a comprehensive list of achievements across diverse areas:
Infrastructure & Facilities:

- Roads: Grading and widening of 50km roads across all towns and settlements.
- Drainage: Construction of a 20-meter drainage with a height of 1.2 meters on Jatigbe stream, Ilero.
- Security Infrastructure: Building of Amotekun Security Network posts at Iseyin road, Okeho, and Kilometre 5, Iganna road, Ilero.
- Power: Installation of a Solar energy 5KVA (6.2KW) Hybrid Inverter at the Local Government Secretariat Complex, Mesenle, Okeho.
- Water Supply: Drilling of three (3) motorized boreholes at Irevoliede market, Okeho; Irepodun Market, Otu road, Ilero; and Oluopetu area, Olale, Okeho. Additionally, 26 hand pump boreholes were repaired across the eleven wards.
- Equipment Repair: Repair of earth-moving equipment, including the Local Government’s Bulldozer D6R CAT, Excavator 320D CAT, Komatsu Grader, and CAT Grader.
Education & Social Welfare: - Scholarship: Sponsorship of five (5) students of Local Government origin for degree programs at Abiola Ajimobi First Technical University, Ibadan.
- Youth Support: Regular welfare and support to National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members.
- Advocacy: Organization of a special rally on “Zero Tolerance for Gender Based Violence and other Social Vices.”
- Community Engagement: Presentation of gifts to First Babies of the Year, End of the Year gifts to staff, and financial assistance to the needy, schools, and religious bodies.
Healthcare Delivery: - Immunization: Regular observation of house-to-house immunization programs against measles, poliomyelitis, and malaria.
- Maternal Health: Successful organization of “Baby Show” in eleven (11) Healthcare centers for maternal training of pregnant women and nursing mothers.
- Staffing: Employment of seventy-eight (78) Primary Healthcare workers.
- Facility Development: Facilitating the construction of five (5) World Bank assisted standard Primary Healthcare Centers at Ijo-Okeho, Gbonje-Okeho, Agbagi-Ilero, Iwere-Oke/Ilaji-Oke, and Ayetoro-Oke.
- Services: Provision of adequate drugs for all Maternity and Primary Healthcare Centers, free medical treatments, and regular support for community outreach services.
- Environmental Health: Regular provision of environmental health services to ensure a clean and healthy society.
Agriculture & Rural Integration: - Farmer Training: Sponsorship of ten (10) youth farmers to attend Nassarawa State Farmers’ Training Programme.
- Land Development: Perimeter measurement, land clearing, land measurement, and land allocation to farmers, along with tractorization of sixty-five (65) acres of Local Government farmland at NALDA Farm Settlement, Ilero.
- Partnerships: Hosting of All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) monthly meetings and Psaltry International (for agricultural development).
- Loans & Equipment: Facilitation of ACCESS Farmers’ Loan distribution to AFAN members, repair of two (2) Local Government tractors, and subsidized ploughing of farmlands.
- Livestock Health: Facilitation of mass vaccination of small ruminants (goat and sheep) and large ruminants (cattle).
Security & Collaboration: - Equipment: Procurement of a Mitsubishi Pick-up Van L200 for Operation Burst, Kajola Local Government.
- Staff Welfare: Provision of Health Insurance for Local Government Vigilante.
- Community Policing: Collaboration, community engagement, and working with stakeholders, including security personnel, traditional rulers, and community members, to address security concerns.
- Meetings: Holding joint security meetings on a monthly basis to prioritize safety and a secured environment.
Facilitated Projects through Oyo State CSDP
Chairman Mustapha also highlighted landmark achievements facilitated through the Oyo State Community and Social Development Project (CSDP), bringing dividends of democracy to the grassroots: - Construction of Healthcare Maternity Centre at Ogan, Okeho.
- Drilling of 4 units motorized boreholes at Ogan Community, Okeho.
- Renovation of a block of 3 Classrooms at Ansar-Ud-Deen High School, Okeho.
- Drilling of 4 units motorized boreholes at Ustaz Dapo Yusuff Villa, Ile Oro, Isemi-Ile road, Okeho.
- Construction of Healthcare Maternity Centre at Irewole Ayinke Area, Olele Community, Okeho.
- Drilling of 4 units motorized boreholes at Health Care Maternity Centre, Irewole Ayinke Area, Olele, Okeho.
- Renovation of a block of 3 Classrooms and office at Ansar-Ud-Deen Primary School, Parakoyi Community, Ayetoro-Oke.
- Drilling of 4 units motorized boreholes at Parakoyi Community, Ayetoro-Oke.
Tributes and Call for Support
Goodwill messages were delivered by notable personalities, including the Alasia of Isia, High Chief Rafiu Gbolagade, and the Kajola LG PDP Chairman, Chief Johnson Ojebiyi, who lauded Chairman Mustapha’s achievements and encouraged him to continue his impactful work. Elder Rasaq Igbayilola, Alhaji Musodiq Adele Alawiye, and Alhaji Raji Makanjuola, representing the Chief of Okeho, also spoke, emphasizing principles of justice, sovereignty, accountability, and consultations. The HLGA, Alhaja I.A Abass, also shared her remarks.
The Vice Chairman and Political Head, Iwa Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon (Dr) Robert Adeniji, delivered the vote of thanks, urging continued support for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) both in Kajola and across Oyo State.
The event served as a clear testament to the progress and development witnessed in Kajola Local Government under the leadership of Honourable Akeem Olawale Mustapha Esq. over the past year.
