June 12: APC Chieftain, Soliu Abu Gbadamosi Calls For Renewed Commitment to Democratic Ideals
A prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State and a prospective House of Representatives’ candidate, affectionately known as ‘IRE,’
Engr. (Dr.) Soliu Adebare Abu Gbadamosi today extended his felicitations to Nigerians on the auspicious occasion of June 12, emphasizing the enduring spirit of democracy in the nation.

In a statement released from his Office of Media, Publicity, and Strategy in Oyo State, Soliu Abu Gbadamosi highlighted the indelible link between June 12 and the late Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola. “M.K.O. Abiola remained the President-elect by Nigerians across religious and tribal groups but was denied the opportunity to rule by the military then. Unfortunately, we lost him, but his footprint remains unforgettable in the governance of our dear country, Nigeria,” Dr. Gbadamosi remarked, paying tribute to Abiola’s selfless sacrifice for the emergence of democracy.
As Nigerians commemorate Democracy Day, Soliu Gbadamosi urged a collective reflection on the profound significance of June 12 and the immense sacrifices made by patriotic citizens who valiantly fought for true democratic governance. He underscored the critical importance of renewing commitment to democratic ideals, upholding justice, and fostering national unity.
The APC chieftain specifically honoured the memory of Chief M.K.O. Abiola and all others who played pivotal roles in the arduous struggle for democracy. He extended special appreciation to pro-democracy groups such as NADECO and Afenifere, alongside other patriotic citizens who tirelessly advocated for democracy and good governance. Dr. Gbadamosi also commended the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) for its dedicated efforts in promoting democratic principles and fostering comprehensive national development.
“Democracy thrives on active citizen engagement,” Gbadamosi asserted. “I implore you all to remain vigilant, participate meaningfully in civic responsibilities, and collectively work towards strengthening our democratic institutions.”
Concluding his message, Engr. (Dr.) Soliu Adebare Abu Gbadamosi extended wishes for a peaceful and reflective Democracy Day to all people of Oyo State and Nigerians at large. He called for continued support for President Bola Tinubu (GCFR) in his “Renewed Hope” agenda and offered prayers for sustained peace, unity, and progress within the state and the entire nation.
