Iseyin-Ogbomoso road, that links Oke-Ogun and Ogbomoso Axes of Oyo State, will be rounded off by May 30th, 2024.
KOPEK Construction Limited that is constructing the ongoing road, made this assurance while in an interactive session with news men at its yard in Iseyin, Iseyin Local Government, Area of the state.
The Site Engineer, Tony Khairallah said, Iseyin-Ogbomoso with 15CM stone based, and 2 layers of 8.5CM asphaltic thickness would be completed at the end of May, 2024.
He disclosed that the road was divided into two, as Oyo State Government awarded 38.1KM part of the road to KOPEK Construction Limited and which its completion would be feasible come May 31st hopefully.
Tony Khairallah maintained that the road, which begins from Iseyin has quality of 15CM stone based and thickness of 2 layers of 8.5CM asphalt.
The Site Engineer disclosed that the road, which comes to completion End of May, will be maintained by the construction company and after which, the guarantee would be placed on it.
He expressed delight that the road is almost completed, but noted that the bridge remains the major challenges, as it has no alternative road for people to ply which its construction was going on.
In summary, he said the road was awarded on December 2021 while the job started January 2022; and the thickness of asphalt has binder course 50mm; wearing course 40mm and asphalt on shoulders 30mm.
He added that the Contract sum is N20,134,794,365.57 and the project will be commissioned on the 30th of May, 2024.
On encountered challenges, he said, “we had to construct a bridge of 60m at KM 15 of the road before we were able to cross to the other side and complete the project as there was no existing mean to cross the river before”.
Khairallah said, the road could be plied by all motors, as it has no restriction of trucks, and lorries regardless of loads that they may convey.
He reiterated his assurance to the quality of road, which has now become motorable for all users without restriction to sizes and weights of loads which their motors may convey.
Khairallah expressed his heartfelt appreciation to people of Iseyin Local Government, whom he described as accommodating and friendly to all staff of KOPEK Construction Limited.
