The Area Commander of the Iseyin/Itesiwaju Area Command in Oyo State, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Rufus Akanle Adegoke, has been formally inducted as a Fellow of the Institute of Security Nigeria (FISN), marking yet another significant milestone in his distinguished career in law enforcement and national security.

The fellowship conferment took place on Saturday, 29th November, during the 18th Annual International Security Conference, Investiture, and Induction Ceremony of the Institute, held at the Faculty of Social Sciences Auditorium, University of Lagos, Akoka. The prestigious event brought together renowned security experts, policymakers, academics, and professionals from across the country and beyond.
ACP Akanle was among seventy-nine distinguished recipients honoured with the fellowship award, a recognition bestowed only on individuals who have demonstrated exceptional professionalism, outstanding commitment to national security, and impactful contributions to security development in Nigeria. The award further consolidates his reputation as a highly respected police officer with decades of
experience, expertise, and dedication to service.

This year’s conference, with the theme “Expanding Frontiers of Innovations in Security Enhancement and Nation Building in Nigeria,” featured rich intellectual engagements that dissected Nigeria’s evolving security landscape and the urgent need for innovation-driven strategies. The keynote address was delivered by former Chief of Army Staff and Ambassador, Lt. Gen. Tukur Yusufu Buratai (rtd.), who provided deep insights into contemporary security dynamics and national development.
The event was also graced by eminent personalities including Dr. Ade Abolurin, OFR (Chairman of the Institute), Prof. Dele Olowokudejo (President), and Barr. Adebayo Akinade (Deputy President and Chief Executive Officer), among other distinguished security professionals, scholars, and public service leaders.
ACP Akanle, a seasoned security administrator and scholar, holds a Bachelor of Science Education degree in Political Science and a Master’s degree in International Relations and Strategic Studies. He is also an alumnus of the prestigious Police Staff College, Jos, Plateau State—an institution known for producing some of Nigeria’s finest and most strategic security leaders.

In his emotional appreciation message, the newly inducted Fellow expressed profound gratitude to God for the honour and privilege:
“To God be the glory. I am eternally grateful to Almighty God, the Ancient of Days, who has given me the grace, privilege, honour, and opportunity to belong to different elitist and noble professional bodies. I am fulfilled to be a member of the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (MNIIA), a Fellow of the Institute of Security Nigeria (FISN), and a Fellow of the Institute of Policy Management and Leadership Development (FIPMLD).”
He described his recognition as both humbling and motivating, adding that the honour would inspire him to remain committed to professional excellence, ethical leadership, and service to Nigeria.

Security analysts have also commended the Institute’s recognition of ACP Akanle, affirming that the award reflects his unwavering diligence in community policing, operational leadership, and strategic contributions to the Nigeria Police Force, especially in Oyo State.
As expectations rise for strengthened national security frameworks, the contributions of professionals like ACP Akanle are seen as crucial in advancing innovative solutions and in shaping a more secure and prosperous Nigeria.
