Former Executive Chairman of Kajola Local Government Area of Oyo State, Alhaji (Hon.) Salimonu Afolabi Borikansunwon, has refuted widespread reports claiming that he has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). He described the speculation as misleading, inaccurate, and a deliberate attempt by mischief-makers to distort political developments in the area.

Speaking during an interview with acrossnigerianews.com, Borikansunwon clarified that although he recently withdrew his active participation in the PDP, he has not declared support for or joined any political party at the moment. He explained that stepping aside from the PDP was a personal decision taken after deep reflection — not an indication of alignment with the APC or any other political party.
He expressed displeasure over what he termed an unfounded and hurried narrative, particularly on social media, which suggested that he had already aligned himself with the opposition. According to him, those promoting such claims were either uninformed or acting out of mischief to create unnecessary tension within Kajola’s political space.
The former council chairman noted that his temporary withdrawal from the PDP aligns with the recent decision of his political leader, Senator Hosea Agboola, popularly known as “Alleluyah,” who resigned his membership of the PDP . Borikansunwon added that he is currently consulting widely with political stakeholders, loyalists, and associates to determine his next political direction.
He said the decision on which political platform he may join next would not be rushed, as politics requires alignment of interest, shared principles, and clarity of purpose. He stressed that when consultations are concluded and a final decision is taken, the public will be duly informed.
Borikansunwon reaffirmed that his political ideology remains anchored in service to the people, development-driven leadership, and the promotion of peace and unity in Kajola Local Government and Oyo State at large. He therefore urged his supporters and the general public to remain calm and disregard statements or publications suggesting that he has already joined another party.
The development has continued to generate political conversations across Kajola Local Government and Oke-Ogun, as observers await the next move of the influential former council chairman and his political structure.
