FUNATO University has taken a decisive leap toward strengthening its digital footprint and enhancing its global academic relevance with the formal launch of its official website, www.funato.edu.ng. The institution described the development as a landmark achievement that underscores its commitment to transparency, academic excellence, and information credibility in an increasingly digital-driven world.
In a statement signed by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. O. J. Babayemi, the university noted that the new website is not merely a technological upgrade but a strategic communication asset designed to project the institution’s identity, showcase its achievements, and provide verified, real-time information to stakeholders across the globe.
According to the management, the website arrives at a critical moment when institutions of learning rely heavily on digital platforms to shape public perception, engage international partners, and counter the spread of misinformation. The platform will serve as FUNATO’s authoritative source for news, official updates, academic programmes, institutional policies, research breakthroughs, and other developments within the university system.
The journey toward the website’s launch was described as meticulous, collaborative, and academically driven. On Monday, 8th December, a delegation of seasoned scholars and ICT experts from leading Nigerian universities arrived at FUNATO for the final phase of preparations. The high-level team included distinguished professors from the University of Ibadan (UI), Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), and the University of Jos (UNIJOS), alongside a specialised ICT team from UI.
Hosted within the tranquil environment of the FUNATO University Guest House—set against the institution’s scenic, hilly backdrop—the team undertook a comprehensive technical and content assessment of the platform. Their task was to ensure that the website met global standards in navigation, visual identity, structural coherence, and information accuracy.
The following day, Tuesday, 9th December, the University Management convened a rigorous review and validation session that spanned from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. During this period, the committee subjected every feature of the site to critical scrutiny—from its interface design and menu architecture to its academic content, backend configuration, and security framework. Only after all concerns were addressed and all functionalities optimized did the committee give its final approval for the platform to go live.
Prof. Babayemi emphasized that the website’s launch represents FUNATO University’s renewed dedication to aligning with global best practices in digital governance and academic representation. He noted that the site will play a crucial role in fostering international partnerships, improving visibility for research outputs, and strengthening the institution’s reputation among prospective students, scholars, and collaborators worldwide.
