Former member of the House of Representatives, who represented Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Iwajowa/Kajola Federal Constituency, Oyo State, Hon. Shina Peller has been described as someone who has connections, courage, experience, exposure and deep knowledge to vie for all elective positions.
Oyo North Senatorial Leader for Shina Peller Group(SPG), Alhaji Waheed Shittu Owonikoko disclosed this, during an exclusive interaction with acrossnigerianews.com in his office, in Iseyin, Iseyin Local Government Area of Oyo State.
Alhaji Owonikoko maintained that the noble qualities that make a notable politician can be found in Hon. Shina Peller.
The SPG Senatorial Leader said, the qualities which are characterised as connections, courage, experience, exposure, knowledge and others could be found in him to vie all elective positions.
Alhaji Owonikoko noted that, Peller who was in the Green Chamber between 2019-2023 political dispensation had truly demonstrated his legislative sagacity in terms of sponsorship of bills, motions and urgent discussions at plenary sessions which concerned his federal constituency and Oke-Ogun as a whole.
He maintained that Peller’s four years in the House of Representatives, had unequivocally seen to effective representation, sponsorship of appropriate bills/motions and oversight functions among other duties expected of him.
Alhaji Owonikoko said Iseyin-born ex federal parliamentarian had used his representation to aid sponsorship of bills, attracted infrastructures to Oke-Ogun and at large used the position to satisfy his constituents.
He maintained that if he is given mandate to be in the senate or other higher positions, service delivery to constituents would be prioritised by him.
On his recent ceremonial defection to People’s Democratic Party(PDP), Alhaji Owonikoko maintained that Peller’s love for Oke-Ogun Zone and his acknowledgement of PDP as a party which shows love and concern for the zone remains pivotal factor which orchestrated his defection to the party.
While in a memory lane, SPG Senatorial Leader said, while Peller was in All Progressives Congress(APC) as a member of the House of Representatives for Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Iwajowa/Kajola Federal Constituency, he justified his stance for fairness, equity and justice over rotation of the position to marginalised local governments, saying it was because of his belief in democratic principles, he did not go for second term.
Alhaji Owonikoko said after he had declined his ambition for second term, he showed aspiration for the senatorial seat in his attempt to represent Oyo North Senatorial Seat in APC but was denied for Senator Fatai Buhari to go for third terms.
He however commended Governor Seyi Makinde for opening Oke-Ogun zone to the rest parts of Oyo State, noting that Iseyin and Oke-Ogun as a whole would never forget him in terms of road networks, infrastructures, satellite campus of LAUTECH and others which his administration had implemented to the zone.
