FG Appoints Òkehò-born Professor, Jacob Babayemi as Pioneer Vice-Chancellor of FUNATO
The Federal Government has announced the appointment of Professor Olaniyi Jacob Babayemi as the pioneer Vice-Chancellor of the newly established Federal University of Agriculture and Technology, Okeho.

A Distinguished Career in Academia and Research
Professor Babayemi brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his new role. A distinguished scholar from the Department of Animal Science at the University of Ibadan, he is widely recognized for his substantial contributions to agricultural research and higher education in Nigeria.
Throughout his career at the University of Ibadan, Professor Babayemi has held several key leadership positions, including Head of Department and Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture. His dedication to mentorship is evident in his supervision of over 26 doctoral candidates, eight of whom have gone on to become professors at various universities nationwide. His scholarly work is equally impressive, with more than 145 articles published in reputable journals, solidifying his reputation as a leading academic in the field of Animal Science.
In addition to his academic achievements, Professor Babayemi holds a prominent position as the current President of the Nigerian Society for Animal Production (NSAP). This role highlights his influence and commitment to advancing agricultural development across the country.
