Eleruwa: Wasteful Expenses On A Coronation Of Illegality.
I thought I won’t bother myself talking about the ‘ Awada Kerikeri’ around the illegal selection of Samuel Adebayo Adegbola as the Eleruwa of Eruwa by Governor Seyi Makinde any longer.
I took the decision, because, for me and every right thinking persons, Adegbola’s fate has been sealed from the beginning of his second inglorious ascension to the throne of Eruwa.
Head or tails, he will definitely eventually be removed.
In fact, in the face of the Law, he doesn’t exist regardless of Governor Makinde’s reckless violation of the judgments of the Supreme court and his further empty boasting that those who challenged the Illegality would be wasting their resources.
In fact, just recently, someone sent me a video of the interview of Adegbola by the BCOS where he, Adegbola, was struggling to justify his illegal and shameful claim to the stool of Eruwa.
Any time I feel like having a good laugh, I always listened to the said video.
Our people always say that when someone have a bad case, ask him to judge his case by himself. ( Bi ejo o dun, elejo laa pe o daa).
I was unable to keep to the promise of watching the comedy in Eruwa however, when I saw a document, purportedly from the Finance Committee of the Coronation ceremony for Adegbola.
The document, purportedly signed by a member of the Eruwa Elders Council states that 50 million Naira is required to ‘feed invited guests from Ibarapa and other well wishers’.
According to the document which is seeking voluntary donations from members of the Finance Committee, the Governor is said to have ‘ tremendously assisted on the forthcoming coronation program ‘.
A Governor who have refused to assist us ‘ tremendously ‘ to fix our roads and other infrastructures, finds it convenient to assist and ‘ tremendously ‘ so, in Coronating Illegality.
Whatever anyone chooses to do with their personal resources should not be my headache and it is not.
However, I think it is time every reasonable sons and daughters of Eruwa have a rethink about the relevance and or usefulness of the self appointed Eruwa Elders Council.
I have never taken them seriously and I have my reasons.
I see them as a group of people who have been leveraging on the goodwill of the generality of the people of Eruwa to maintain relevance and curry favors for personal benefits from successive Governments, most especially, the Seyi Makinde Government.
Since Makinde became Governor in 2019 and Debo Ogundoyin became Speaker of the Oyo state House of Assembly, no tangible development have been attracted to Eruwa.
The only road that links Eruwa with Ibadan is in a chaotic state till today and Governor Makinde is on record to have made several failed promises about that road.
The township Roads within Eruwa are an eyesore, including the ones from the Eruwa new garage to Oke-ola junction and the Alayande junction to Isaba junction roads which were allegedly awarded to the younger brother of Debo Ogundoyin.
The Local Government have been docile all this while until very recently when I read a release from an aide of the Local Government Chairman where he said the Ipin Bridge along Temidire road has been rebuilt after it collapsed a couple of years ago.
Even the statement of the press release betrayed a struggle to award the credit for the job between the Governor and the Council chairman.
I am certain that the Bridge and the meters of road tarred were financed with Ibarapa East Local Government funds even though the contractor might have been imposed by the almighty Governor Makinde.
Just this morning, I saw another release by the Local Government stating that the Eruwa palace is under renovations.
I’m equally certain that the Local Government funds is being spent on the project, while the contractor is from elsewhere.
Now, let me ask the Eruwa Elders Council if they can say publicly that they are happy with the current state of infrastructures within Eruwa town?
Are they proud of the terrible condition of the Ido/Eruwa Road? The Eruwa new garage to Oke-ola junction road? The Alayande junction to Isaba junction road and other inner roads within the town?
Are they happy with the current state of the Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic?
A couple of days ago, a young man from Eruwa raised questions about these infrastructures.
So, it is easy for them to tax themselves and raise funds to hold a feast for Adegbola and they can not do the same to at least intervene on infrastructures within the town?
Haa! Elders indeed.
The late Hon. Justice Gboye Gbolagunte went to meet the Lord almost a year now.
He was the first and only High Court Judge from Eruwa.
What efforts have the ‘ Elders’ put in place to ensure that Eruwa has another slot in the Oyo state Judiciary?
The Eleruwa Stadium, which ought to be one of the legacies of the late Adeseun Ogundoyin is also an eyesore now.
Shouldn’t the Elders Council have done something about it?
Apart from the usual empty threats and costly jokes, I am very curious to know what Governor Makinde is coming to say in Eruwa on the day of the Coronation.
Is he coming to tell us that, as he promised, the Ido/ Eruwa Road have been completed?
Or, that the Eruwa Farm Settlement which he and some of the said Elders Council have ‘ handed over ‘ to some mysterious persons is now El dorado?
Is he going to happily announce that a buyer has been found for the Eruwa Cashew Plantation?
I know that the Governor and Debo Ogundoyin would most certainly enjoy the bumpy ride from Ido to Eruwa and the ride from new garage driving through Odo Baba Ode to the Eleruwa Palace. May their expensive SUVs not get stuck this time around.
Would the Governor be commissioning the world class Eleruwa Palace before he leaves Eruwa?
It will be a good thing if Governor Makinde could drive along the world class Alayande junction to Isaba junction road and pass through Isaba junction to Oke-ola junction road so as to be able to assess the state of work on the Oke-ola junction to new garage road.
Would His Excellency please give the contractor a deadline for the completion of the road?
I am sure the contractor would be on ground, following his brother on the day. There won’t be any problem locating him on such a day.
Finally, I want to suggest that the Committee for the Coronation do consider inviting Abass Akande Obesere to play them some ‘ Palongo beats’.
The lyrics is most fitting for such an occasion. ( ” … to ba fe se’leya, se’leya lo, to ba fe se’leya, se’leya lo o, ma se’leya mo’leya..).
It is Palongo time in Eruwa.
