The Olaribikusi Ruling House of Eruwa has commended the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice for the prompt response to their petition concerning the vacant stool of the Eleruwa of Eruwa.
At a meeting held on Saturday, September 20, 2025, with full representation from the four quarters of Ajao, Omoni, Sabi, and Olasubu-Agbaaragba, the ruling house deliberated on the development and issued a strong communiqué.
In their resolution, the family reaffirmed that the Supreme Court judgment on the matter explicitly recognized Princes Rashidi Oyedepo Ajao (Ajao Quarter), Lamidi Okunola (Omoni Quarter), and Abiodun Ojelade (Sabi Quarter), all from the Olaribikusi Ruling House, as the only candidates legally qualified to ascend the throne.
Following internal consultation, the house disclosed that it had resolved on a consensus candidate among the three princes. They, however, emphasized that the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Oyo State must first comply with the Supreme Court judgment and the advice of the Attorney General of the Federation before their chosen candidate would be formally presented to the kingmakers.
The Olaribikusi Ruling House insisted that “no one can place something on nothing,” describing the purported selection of Samuel Adebayo Adegbola as the Eleruwa of Eruwa by Governor Seyi Makinde as “an academic exercise without legal backing.”
They further maintained that the apex court’s judgment, delivered in their favor, leaves no room for ambiguity as it categorically affirms the right of the Olaribikusi Ruling House to produce the next Eleruwa. According to them, the Governor of Oyo State lacks the authority to transfer this right to the Akalako Ruling House or any other family.
The communiqué also contained a stern warning to the Oyo State Attorney General, urging him to either enforce the judgment in line with the rule of law or resign from office if he finds it difficult to prevail on the governor to comply.
The resolution was jointly signed by Apostle Bolanle Adewoyin (Ajao Quarters), Prince Moshood Amuda (Omoni Quarters), Prince Wasiu “Agbede” (Sabi Quarters), and Mr. Mathew Olatayo (Olasubu-Agbaaragba Quarters).
