Elero of Ilero, Oba Wasiu Oyedele Saka Writes Open Letter to All Indigenes of Ileroland

The Elero of Ileroland, His Royal Majesty, Oba Wasiu Oyedele Saka (Olokolonigi II), has issued an open letter to all sons and daughters of the ancient community, calling for unity, collective responsibility, and coordinated action towards the accelerated development of the town.

The letter, dated Saturday, November 1, 2025, and signed personally by the monarch, was made available to acrossnigerianews.com. In the strongly worded message, the traditional ruler appealed to all indigenes — both at home and in the diaspora — to renew their commitment to peace, development, and progressive partnerships aimed at advancing Ilero’s socio-economic fortunes.

Below is the full content of the letter as released:

AN OPEN LETTER TO ALL INDIGENES OF ILERO LAND

From the Throne of His Royal Majesty
    Saturday, 1st November, 2025

My Dear Sons and Daughters of Ilero Land, both at home and in the diaspora,

As I, His Royal Majesty, Oba Wasiu Oyedele Saka (Olokolonigi II), sit upon the ancient and revered throne of our forebears today, my heart is filled with profound pride, unwavering hope, and deep love for our cherished Ilero. Our land is blessed with rich history, noble heritage, and exceptional people. Yet, for far too long, our community has not enjoyed the level of growth and prominence it truly deserves among the great towns of Oke-Ogun, Oyo State, and Nigeria at large.

Today, I speak to you with a renewed conviction — the era of stagnation is over. The time has come for Ilero to rise, to flourish, and to stand tall as a beacon of development, unity, and progress.

    Our Collective Mandate

Since ascending this throne, I have committed myself wholly to the advancement of Ilero. Meaningful foundations have already been laid in the areas of peace-building, community connection, and progressive dialogue. But no king reigns alone. No throne achieves greatness without the shoulders of its people.

    Therefore, I call upon:

Our youths, whose energy, innovation, and boldness must be harnessed.

Our elites and professionals, home and abroad, whose knowledge and exposure are invaluable.

Our leaders and stakeholders, whose influence and experience are necessary to drive coordinated growth.

Let us join hands in building the Ilero of our dreams.

Key Pillars of Our Development Agenda

We must now unite and work strategically to achieve the following:

Establishment of a Tertiary Institution in Ilero, to empower our youth with knowledge and opportunities.

Construction of a Standard Government Hospital, to ensure equitable access to quality healthcare.

Development and Rehabilitation of Road Networks, to enhance trade, transportation, and daily life.

Programmes for Youth Empowerment, Security and Skill Development, to secure the future of Ilero.

These goals are not mere aspirations. They are urgent necessities — and together, we will achieve them.

Let Us Reject Division and Strengthen Unity

It is unfortunate that in recent times, some few groups have attempted to employ “divide and rule” tactics driven by personal grievances and narrow interests. Let it be known today: Ilero cannot and must not be fractured. Our strength lies in unity, cooperation, and shared purpose.

I therefore urge all parties, factions, and individuals to set aside personal differences and embrace dialogue, peace, and togetherness. The destiny of our land is bigger than any disagreement.

    Harnessing Our Political Strength

We are a people of influence — locally, statewide, nationally, and internationally. Let us therefore use our political presence and connections responsibly and strategically to attract:

    Government developmental projects

    Institutional partnerships

    Corporate investments

    And humanitarian support

Ilero must be present where decisions are made, and our voices must be heard where opportunities are shared.

The Future is Ours to Build

Let history remember this era as the turning point — the moment when Ilero rose to reclaim its excellence. Let our children and grandchildren look back with pride and say, “It was our generation that built the foundation of the Ilero we prosper in today.”

I stand ready, committed, and determined.
I ask you all — sons, daughters, leaders, stakeholders — walk with me.

Let us build Ilero into a land of:

    Growth

    Peace

    Prosperity

    Unity

    And undeniable greatness

    Long Live Ilero!
    Long Live Eleroland!
    Long Live Kajola Local Government!
    Long Live Oyo State!

    Yours in Service and Commitment,

    His Royal Majesty,
Oba Wasiu Oyedele Saka (Olokolonigi II)
    The Elero of Ilero Land
    Kajola Local Government
    Oyo State, Nigeria
