Management of Impressive College of Nursing Sciences, Okeho, Kajola Local Government Area of Oyo State has felicitated all adherents of Christianity across Nigeria on occasion of 2024 Christmas celebration, also enjoined to strengthen bonds and foster a sense of togetherness.

According to the statement, “Christmas, celebrated on December 25th, is a Christian holiday commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ. It has evolved into a cultural and commercial phenomenon, observed by billions worldwide, regardless of denominations”.
“Central to Christmas celebrations are various customs and traditions. Decorating homes with Christmas trees, adorned with ornaments and lights, is a common practice. Exchanging gifts, often placed under the tree, symbolizes the gifts brought by the Three Wise Men to the baby Jesus. Christmas carols, hymns of praise and joy, fill the air, creating a festive atmosphere”.
“The Christmas meal is a highlight, varying across cultures. In many Western countries, roast turkey or ham is a traditional centerpiece, accompanied by festive side dishes and desserts. Sharing meals with family and friends strengthens bonds and fosters a sense of togetherness”.
“For many, the season is a time for reflection and spiritual renewal. Attending church services, where the Christmas story is recounted, is a significant part of the celebration for Christians. The holiday is also associated with acts of kindness and charity, as people often donate to those in need, embodying the spirit of giving”.
“While the commercial aspects of Christmas have grown significantly, the underlying themes of love, joy, and togetherness remain central to its enduring appeal. It is a time for families to gather, for friends to reconnect, and for communities to come together in celebration of the holiday season”.
Dr Abdul-Fatai however tasked them to imbibe with the lessons of love, forgiveness, cheerfulness, generosity and care which Jesus Christ preached to his disciples.
He hinted that the lesson is so significant and the reason that sustains the celebration till date, praying God almighty to make the season’s celebration meaningful and religious to all adherents of Christianity now and forever.
