The Executive Chairman of Iwajowa Local Government, Area of Oyo State, Hon. Muritala Abiodun Oyewumi has passionately appealed to the people of Iwajowa to do everything humanly possible to prevent the outbreak of the deadly Cholera disease.

In a statement which was personally signed through his Chief of Staff, Hon. Kazeem Oladeinde HAMMED, the Council boss explained that Cholera is an extremely virulent disease transmitted through the ingestion of contaminated food or water.
He said, “the disease can cause severe acute watery diarrhoea and the severe forms of it can kill within hours if left untreated”.
“Key symptoms for people to look out for are: Diarrhoea and dehydration, nausea and vomiting”.
The Chairman urged his people to handle all the information about the disease with all forms of seriousness just like they did during COVID-19.

Hon. Muritala also assured Iwajowa indigenes that the government of Oyo State as usual has activated an integrated disease Surveillance System that includes feedback at the local level and information sharing at the state level.
In conclusion, the good people of Iwajowa have been encouraged to follow and take the following preventive measures:
a. Drinking safe and clean water;
b. washing of hands often with soap and safe water;
c. cook food well. Keep it covered. Eat it hot and close leftovers appropriately;
d. never eat peeled fruits from unhygienic sources;
e. clean and disinfect toilets and surfaces with soap and treated water.
“It is our sincere hope that with strict adherence to the aforementioned precautions we will all have a safe Iwajowa and a healthy environment.
