In a landmark development for the alumni association of The Polytechnic Ibadan’s 2006 Mass Communication Department Eruwa, Ascom ’06 Connect has officially been registered as a corporate entity by the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) of Nigeria.

The announcement was made by President Abass Lawal, who addressed members of the association via their official WhatsApp group, marking a significant milestone for the group that began as a simple gathering of former classmates in September 2015.
“This could not have been achieved without your consistency, determination, and dedication to ensure the group works,” Lawal stated, acknowledging the collective effort that led to the official recognition.
He emphasized that the new status as a corporate entity grants the association a stronger, more official voice in society, opening up new avenues for collaboration and impact.

With this new recognition, the association is set to implement several new arrangements to reflect its corporate status. Among the first initiatives is the establishment of a corporate bank account, which is already in the pipeline. This will streamline financial operations and provide greater transparency.
In addition, the group plans to introduce membership ID cards for its members, further solidifying their sense of belonging and official recognition. Lawal promised that more updates on these new arrangements would be provided in the coming days.
While the administrative changes are underway, the association is also focusing on its digital presence. The tech department is currently working on a new video for the group’s YouTube channel.

Lawal encouraged members to continue engaging with the existing content by rewatching, commenting, and resharing the videos. He also urged them to subscribe to the channel to stay updated and support the association’s online visibility.
The registration by the federal government signifies a new chapter for Ascom ’06 Connect, transforming it from an informal network into a formally recognized organization with a clear structure and a renewed purpose.
This move is expected to bolster its influence and allow it to undertake more ambitious projects for the benefit of its members and the wider community.
