This morning, the life of a young school pupil was cut short somewhere around Gbagi in Ibadan.
There has been different angles of the story told by different sources, however, a clear picture is beginning to emerge.

When I saw a disturbing picture of the corpse of the hapless boy been taken to the Oyo state Secretariat, Ibadan, I wondered what would have prompted such an action because, at the time, the news out there was that the boy was hit by a stray bullet fired by policemen who were allegedly pursuing suspected Yahoo boys.
As at the time I’m writing this report, it is clear that the shot, though allegedly fired by a policeman, the policeman in question was allegedly attached to the Oyo state Road Traffic Maintenance Agency, OYRTMA and that the car in question was not driven by Yahoo boys but by a father, taking his children to school to write WAEC.
It is also clearer that the issues necessitating the reckless and unnecessary firing of the shot that killed the poor boy was a misunderstanding centered on Road offences.
Now, the question is, what Road traffic offence can a commuter commit that would warrant him or her being shot at?
Assuming without conceding that the occupiers of the vehicle were suspected Yahoo boys, what common sense dictate that the one who fired the shot should resort to firing shots within a busy environment, most especially, when the officials were not under fire?
Even if the policeman was compelled to fire a shot, shouldn’t he have aimed at the wheels of the escaping vehicle?
What happened this morning is murder. Pure and simple.
It is also alleged that before the unfortunate incident, the OYRTMA officers had rammed the car of the victims.
That calls into question, the kind of persons employed as OYRTMA officers and the operation of the Agency.
Now, another young soul had been taken through the recklessness and stupidity of some overzealous Government officials.
This time around, the public must insist on justice and nothing less.
We just got over the shock of over forty children who lost their lives under very unfortunate circumstances at Bashorun.
Some of us can not forget the pains we went through when we heard that the Oyo state Government eventually withdrew the cases against the accused individuals at the time.
We do not want to hear that the family of this poor boy have been compensated and no one must bring sentiments to this again.
We are not vampires. We are human beings with blood and water flowing in our veins.
One of the accused persons in the unfortunate incident at Bashorun is now warming up to become the Governor of Oyo state and we all talk about ” saner climes”!
Imagine, someone who was fingered and arraigned as having hands in the deaths of over forty children.
The same person is presently nursing a gubernatorial ambition in less than a year after the case against him was withdrawn by a Government headed by someone who is so close to him to the extent that he had awarded contracts of hundreds of millions of Naira to him!
Unfortunately, some still consider him the ” alaanu mekunnu”! We are seriously in soup.
I do not want to dishonor the memory of the poor deceased boy with the indiscretions of the fellow in question. I will deal with his matter at the appropriate time.
Like I said, the general public must be on Governor Makinde’s neck on this one.
Everyone who had anything to do with the unfortunate killing of that poor boy must be brought to book.
I must also say this and I don’t care whatever anyone thinks about it, people should stop receiving compensations to keep shut when they lost their loved ones.
In their shoes, these wicked people compensating them would do anything to ensure that their loved ones are avenged.
