Oyo State Government, has presented instrument of office to the Onibise of Otu, Oba Abiodun Oyerinde Owolabi, in Itesiwaju Local Government, Area of the state.
The epoch making occasion, which took place on Friday, 26th January in Otu amidst ecstasy and grandeur, had in attendance of creme de la creme in the society, sons and daughters of the community among others.
Hon. Olusegun Olayiwola, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, who stood in gap for Governor Seyi Makinde presented the staff of office to the monarch.
In his speech, Hon. Olayiwola asked the monarch and entire people of Otu Kingdom to show more commitment and support to Governor Makinde’s led administration, in order to bring more developmental projects to the community and beyond.
The Honourable Commissioner added that the governor would not feel reluctant to ensure that the rights and privileges of the monarchs in Oyo State are prioritised as at when due.
He however hinted that, Oyo State Government is not taking the issues of insecurity and illegal mining with the levity hands, adding that the last Ibadan explosion, which orchestrated the deaths of people and properties’ destruction had no doubt made the government to beef up the security of lives, properties and around major mines across the state.
Hon. Ojo Bolaji Akintola, the Executive Chairman, Itesiwaju Local Government has extended sincere appreciation to Governor Seyi Makinde for his kind consideration and timely approval in ensuring that the occasion became success.
Hon. Akintola implored the monarch to be in harmony with Seyi Makinde’s led administration in order to fasten government’s developmental projects and activities to the community.
Also, he urged the Onibise-Otu to join hands with the government of the day to eradicate the menace of banditry, kidnapping and cattle rustling ravaging the communities in recent times, adding that ” it is pertinent to be at peace with other surrounding communities in order to achieve success in the area of security and better development”.
The Eleyinpo of Ipapo and Chairman, Traditional Council in Itesiwaju Local Government, HRM Oba Yekeen Ademola Abioye 2 extended greetings to Oba Abiodun Owolabi on feasibility of the presentation of instrument of office by Oyo State Government.
He noted that the day was God’s ordained one, which had been predestined that the monarch would have his staff of office, praying God almighty to make the kingdom of Ibise-Otu peaceful and prosperous for him.
The Sobaloju of Ibise-Otu, High Chief Adesina George Adeyemo justified the significance of the staff of office and beaded crown in Yorubaland, enjoining the monarch to use his elevation and connection to promote the community in all ramifications.
Another son of the soil, Prince Adeyemi Hezekiah Gbadegesin prayed God almighty to make the kingdom of Ibise-Otu more peaceful, united and prosperous throughout of the monarch’s reign.
He however called on governments at all levels to extend the dividends of democracy to Otu, so that the citizens would benefit the government’s gestures in education, health, and good roads among others.
Elder Joshua Olayiwola Bolaji, Mrs Omobosola Owolabi Golohor, and Mrs Popoola Folashade Oluwafemi showed gratitude to God almighty , Whom in His mercy made the presentation of the staff of office possible for the monarch, Ibise-Otu community and its inhabitants.
Oba Abiodun Oyerinde Owolabi Oyekuleyin 1, said he could not hide his joy as God and Governor Seyi Makinde made the presentation of the instrument of office a reality.
He however called on investors, sons and daughters to make investments in the community essential, so that its development and progress will be attained in geometric progression.
