Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa, marked a significant milestone on Friday ,29 August, 2025 graduating 6,650 students during its second combined convocation ceremony.

The event, held for the 2021/2022, 2022/2023, and 2023/2024 academic sessions, highlighted the institution’s recent achievements and its commitment to academic excellence.
The Acting Governor of Oyo State, Barrister Adebayo Lawal, led a delegation of top government officials, traditional rulers, and community leaders who attended the colorful ceremony.
During his opening speech, the Acting Rector, Dr. Olugbade Adewuyi Akinteye, expressed gratitude to the Oyo State Government for its unwavering support, particularly under the Omituntun 2.0 agenda.
He outlined a number of key accomplishments over the past three years, including significant infrastructure improvements and the accreditation of new courses by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).
He also noted the introduction of several new Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes, such as Estate Management and Valuation, Marketing, Accountancy, Public Administration, and Fashion Design & Clothing Technology, which will broaden the academic offerings for students.
Dr. Akinteye also proudly mentioned that in 2024, the polytechnic was ranked third best in Nigeria by JAMB, a testament to the institution’s commitment to quality education. Despite these successes, he appealed for urgent support in two critical areas: addressing the shortage of permanent staff by regularizing casual appointments and constructing additional lecture halls to accommodate the growing student population.
The Chairman of the Governing Council, Prof. Kazeem Adekunle Adebiyi, congratulated the graduates and assured attendees that the council is actively working with the state government to address the polytechnic’s needs. Representing Governor Seyi Makinde, Acting Governor Adebayo Lawal reiterated the administration’s strong focus on education, citing that 20.88% of the current state budget is allocated to the sector.
He assured the institution that the regularization of part-time staff appointments is a top priority for the government, aimed at strengthening the workforce and enhancing service delivery.
A key part of the ceremony was the conferment of Foundation Fellowship Honours on three distinguished personalities for their outstanding contributions to education and community development. The honorees were:
Hon. Sunday Adepoju, a former Member of the Federal House of Representatives and current Board Member of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund)., Chief Adeniji Adesoji Aderemi, FNIQS, MD/CEO of OAT Construction Nigeria Ltd., Lagos and Prince Adeyinka Afonja, Chairman of Ace Mall, Oyo State.
The honorees expressed their appreciation for the recognition and pledged their continued support for the polytechnic.
The event was attended by numerous dignitaries, including the Oyo State Commissioners for Education, Science & Technology, Hon. Olusegun Olayiwola; Information, Prince Dotun Ojelade; and Establishment and Training, Prof. Salihu Adelabu. The ceremony also drew notable legal and academic figures, as well as several traditional rulers, including HRH Samuel Adebayo Adegbola, the Eleruwa of Eruwa, and HRH Jamiu Adedamola Badmus, the Oluaso of Iberekodo.
The Acting Registrar, Mr. O.A. Oladiipo, concluded the ceremony with a vote of thanks, acknowledging the support from the state government, community leaders, and all stakeholders who have contributed to the institution’s success.
