Barrister Akeem Agbaje, a prominent legal figure, chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, and a gubernatorial aspirant for the 2027 elections, has voiced significant concerns regarding the stalled development of the Oke-Ogun region.

Agbaje emphasized that effective governance, strategic investment, and empowerment are crucial to unlocking the region’s immense economic potential and improving the lives of its residents.
Speaking to journalists at his Ibadan office, Agbaje highlighted a litany of issues he believes are impeding Oke-Ogun’s progress, including persistent infrastructure neglect, misplaced priorities by past and present administrations, incompetent leadership, rampant poverty, and a sense of abandonment among the populace.
He also stressed the critical importance of local government autonomy for genuine grassroots development across the state.
Agbaje specifically lamented the deplorable condition of the road leading to the Ikere Gorge Dam, advocating for its proper concession and development as a vital piece of infrastructure. He sharply criticized the current administration, asserting that its misplaced priorities have directly hindered the growth and development of Oke-Ogun, a region he firmly believes possesses immense economic potential.
The gubernatorial hopeful further expressed frustration over what he described as the appointment of “incompetent individuals to leadership positions, which he claims has significantly contributed to the region’s stagnation. He painted a stark picture of the alarming rate of poverty in Oke-Ogun, accusing the state government of having abandoned its citizens and failing to contribute meaningfully to the local economy.
Agbaje’s impassioned discourse underscores his deep commitment to driving positive change in the region. He concluded by asserting that if he is given the opportunity to serve as the next Governor of Oyo State, he would ensure that Oke-Ogun and other zones are developed beyond people’s imagination.
