The Kwara State monthly environmental sanitation exercise for February will hold on Saturday, February 22, 2025, from 7:00 am to 10:00 am.
Residents are urged to actively participate in the exercise by cleaning and clearing their residential and business environments. During this period, vehicular and human movement will be restricted throughout the state.

The Commissioner for Environment, Hajia Nafisat Musa Buge, announced that waste management trucks will be deployed for the collection and disposal of waste at designated government-approved dumpsites.
The Commissioner emphasized that dumping refuse on pedestrian walkways, roadsides, drainages, canals, and other unauthorized locations is a punishable offense under environmental law.
Furthermore, obstructing government officials from performing their duties will be subject to legal action.
Hajia Buge extended advance wishes to Muslim residents for a blessed Ramadan and prayed for Allah’s protection during and after the holy month. She reiterated the importance of maintaining a clean environment and adhering to relevant environmental laws in homes and businesses.
It would be recalled that some states in Nigeria are not adhering to monthly environmental sanitation exercises as invididuals have challenged the practices in courts of competent jurisdiction, claiming it is an abberation to fundamental human rights, most especially right to movement.
