PDP Convention: Oyo LG Chairmen Harp on Hitch-Free Engagement, Welcome Delegates to Ibadan
The Forum of Local Government Chairmen in Oyo State has extended a warm welcome to all delegates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) arriving in Ibadan for the party’s National Convention, assuring that the exercise will be peaceful, well-organized, and hitch-free.
In a statement issued on Friday and jointly signed by the Forum’s Chairman, Hon. Sakiru Sanda, and Publicity Secretary, Hon. Ibrahim Akintayo, the council bosses reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the Oyo State leadership of the party in hosting a seamless and impactful national event.
The Forum noted that the choice of Ibadan as the host city is a testament to the state’s reputation for stability and effective leadership under Governor Seyi Makinde. They expressed confidence that the convention would further strengthen the PDP’s standing as Nigeria’s most organized and people-focused political party.
“We are fully prepared to play our role in ensuring that the National Convention proceeds without any challenges. Oyo State is ready, and our structures across all local government areas are aligned to support the party leadership in delivering a successful outing,” the statement said.
The Oyo LG Chairmen commended the PDP National Executive Committee (NEC), National Working Committee (NWC), Board of Trustees (BoT), and the PDP Governors’ Forum for unanimously selecting Ibadan as the venue for the convention. According to them, the decision reflects a recognition of the state’s growing influence within the party.
They also paid glowing tribute to Governor Seyi Makinde and other PDP governors for their “visionary and unrelenting commitment” to the progress of the party, both within their State and at the national level.
“ Current PDP Governor’s dedication to uniting and strengthening the party remains exemplary. As loyal party leaders at the grassroots in Oyo state, we restate our continuous support for the advancement of our great party,” the Forum added.
