The Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission, OYSIEC, has commenced a training for ad-hoc staff ahead of the forthcoming local government election in the state.
The State Electoral Body has fixed the local government’s poll to hold on Saturday, April 27, 2024.
The commission has commenced a two-day training for ad-hoc staff who are to work with the electors body during the election.
OYSIEC chairman, Isiaka Abiola Olagunju, while addressing the electoral and assistant electoral officers, ward collation officers, returning officers and supervisors in Ibadan and Oyo town, on Monday advised the participants at the training to discharge their duties as expected.
He described the trainees as partners in progress whose efforts and commitment would be needed to attain fruition of the engagement.
He urged them to ensure that their conduct conform with the electoral guidelines of the commission.
“I am impressed with the turn-out and your interest in the electoral process, you are our partners at the commission, we require your support and commitment to achieve a free, fair, transparent and credible election.
“I am appealing to you to be part of this legacy, you are not representing any political party, you are representing the people of the state, let prosperity judge you and ensure you avoid misconduct.
“Distribution of sensitive materials will begin on Thursday, we will start with the local governments in Oke Ogun Axis, while local governments in Ibadan are to receive last,” he said.
