Users who are consistently plying Kara-Wuraola road in Okeho, Kajola Local Government, Area of Oyo State could not hide their joy as the chairmanship candidate of All Progressives Congress, APC for the council area sponsored the rehabilitation of the road to make it motorable.
Also, members of Okeho Development Youth Forum(ODYF) had despite Sunmonu’s not holding of public office, showered encomium on his philanthropic gesture that orchestrated easy movement of motorists, tricyclists and motorcyclists on the deplorable road.
While speaking with acrossnigerianews.com, Abdul-Waheed Folorunso Aranni, Youth Leader, ODYF said it was so disheartening and worrisome that the road had long become a death trap for its users.
He added that, despite the socioeconomic importance of the road to the community and its environs, many who are plying it have jettisoned it as a result of its bad condition.
Aranni however revealed that it was a thing of joy for him, members of ODYF and the road’s users for seeing Kola Sunmonu, an illustrious son of the soil, who takes it upon himself to make the road motorable despite the current economic hardship in the country.
While speaking further, Arrani maintained that Sunmonu had hinted him not to mention his name but the entire members of ODYF insisted that his name must be mentioned and broadcast in order to encourage others who are ready to trail behind him.
He appreciated Sunmonu for his patriotic and philanthropic effort that is geared towards the sand-filling of potholes which are caused by erosion, and however called on all sons, daughters of the community and others whose use of the road promotes their economic fortunes.
In the same vein, Abdul-Raheem Olawale Amusat, Chairman Stakeholders, ODYF said he was happy and so joyous, having known and acknowledged that Sunmonu had paid for the sand to fill the potholes making the road deplorable.
Amusat added that if others in the ancient town of Okeho and its environs could also extend hands of fellowship and assistance to ODYF, they would not hesitate to welcome them for the development of the community.
Mr Ghazali Adedokun, a motorist and business man commended members of ODYF for their efforts which are geared towards the progress and development of Okeholand, praying that the sponsor of the road’s rehabilitation would never experience hardhip and his sources of sustenance would continue to be multiplied.
Comrade Bamidele Bolaji, an indigene from OkeOgun-Ogbinte said, he came out for the community service, while he had knowledge of the development, saying he loves Okeholand and he is always ready to contribute to its progress as God assists him.
Mr Nasirudeen Omolade, a non-indigene praised all members of ODYF for their selfless, relentless and patriotic efforts aimed at ensuring the growth of Okeholand.
He however commended Sunmonu for his eagerness and readiness to make Okeho attains greater heights, praying that he would continue to know peace and his sources of prosperity would never dry.
