The inaugural meeting of the Oke-Ogun zone of the Oyo State Council for Islamic Preachers (Ithadul Waheseen) took place at the Mafwas Central Mosque, Saki, on Thursday, February 20, 2025.

The meeting focused on promoting responsible preaching practices and addressing challenges facing Islamic graduates.

Under the leadership of Sheikh Taofeek Akeugbagold Akeugberu, National Ameer of Ithadul Waheseen, the council aims to curb extremists’ views among preachers and foster peaceful coexistence with people of other faiths.
The council also seeks to address the issue of unemployment among the estimated 50,000 annual graduates from Arabic schools in the Southwest by promoting vocational skills training alongside Quranic education.
Dr. Hashim Atere, Ameer of the Oyo State Chapter of Ithadul Waheseen, represented by Dr. Ibrahim Ballo Adelani, urged young Quranic learners and Islamic preachers to avoid discrimination and sentiment, which can lead to disunity within the Muslim community.
Dr. Abdul Wahab Olorun Ero, Chairman of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Sakiland, advised preachers to refrain from discussing their personal wealth or revealing perceived spiritual sources of income during sermons.
Sheikh Abdul Rofihi Oloko, Naib Ameer of the group, expressed gratitude to the leadership for organizing the inaugural meeting in Saki and acknowledged the support of Islamic scholars, the Okere of Sakiland, HRM Oba Khalid Olabisi, and other traditional rulers.
Prior to the meeting, Sheikh Abdul Rofihi Oloko and Sheikh Issa Temi-Adara (Igboho), along with other prominent scholars, visited key figures in Saki, including Sheikh Yah Nuralahi Jeje Balogun, Sheikh Ibrahim Hashim (Grand Mufty of Sakiland), Sheikh Al-Mudeer Ayub Fowewe ,Grand Chief Imam of Sakiland, HRM Oba Khalid Olabisi, and the Baagi of Sakiland. Sheikh Qassim Sakariyah Olaosebikan (Ajanasi of Ogbomosoland) conveyed the purpose of the visit, and the hosts pledged their support.
The meeting concluded with a general prayer offered by Sheikh Ibrahim Folorunso Arowolo, Grand Mufty of Ayetoro-Oke.
