In a plenary session at the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Jimoh Lukman Ishola (Omo-Bed), representing Orelope State Constituency, proposed a motion to enhance compensation and support for teachers in rural schools.

The motion aims to encourage commitment and improve the quality of education in remote areas of the state.
Hon. Ishola emphasized the importance of rural education for societal development, noting the challenges faced by teachers in these areas, such as long commutes and limited amenities.
He acknowledged the Oyo State Government’s efforts to recruit teachers but pointed out the high turnover rate due to inadequate support structures.
The motion urges the executive arm of government to take the following actions:
•Develop a comprehensive incentive package for teachers in remote areas, including transport allowances, performance-based bonuses, and suitable housing.
•Offer agricultural training and land allocation to teachers through the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Oyo State Agribusiness Development Agency (OYSDA).
- Ensure reliable internet access and provide necessary technological tools and training for teachers in rural schools, in collaboration with the Oyo State Management Information Centre (MIC).
•Sensitize local communities on the importance of integrating teachers into their villages, offering logistical and social support.
The House of Assembly is committed to working together to improve the lives of rural teachers and students in Oyo State.
