Sequel to business activities which have been paralyzed as a result of deplorable condition of Ilua-Awaye road, the people of Ilua in Kajola Local Government, Area of Oyo State have lamented on hardship which the bad condition of road had orchestrated for the community and its dwellers.
The residents in entirety appealed to Oyo State Government to come to their aid, over the road’s rehabilitation in order to make it motorable for their wellbeing and economic prosperity.
Ilua-Awaye road that was constructed during Ladoja/Akala’s led administration is now in a deplorable state, which motorists nor motorcyclists are no longer plying.
Hon. Ebun Popoola, an indigene and notable community leader in an exclusive interaction with www.acrossnigerianews.com lamented seriously on hardship and setback which deplorable condition of road had caused for the entire community.
Popoola added that, the economic activities of the community have been crippled, while the motorists and motorcyclists are no longer plying the road.
He said, the road had easy access to Awaye, Lanlate, Maya Market, Eruwa, Igboora, Abeokuta and Lagos among other cities, but motorists and most especially commercial ones have as a result of its bad condition stopped plying the route to their destinations.
Another indigene, Hon. Ademola Moses Italeke maintained that, when the road was in good condition, community felt impacts of motorists plying the road for their transportation businesses, adding that it becomes disheartening and sad that, its current situation which prevents motors from accessing it has completely crippled the community’s businesses.
He said many of the small scale business owners who were selling along the road folded up, after motors had stopped plying the route.
Italeke appealed to Oyo State Government to come to the aid of Ilua community, saying the road remains one of the major roads that links the community with the cities.
He maintained that when the business activities and general economy of the community flourish, there would be improvement to residents’ standards of living.
